Interesting that Skoda warned: "Portugal has the strictest approach: you're not even allowed to own a dashcam! So you can expect the police to give you a hard time even if they find a dashcam on a seat in your car, in the glove compartment or in the boot."

The day will eventually arrive when dash cams come as standard with all new car sales within Europe.

Portugal and those other countries banning them is just pure stupid!

Probably true, but who will have access to recordings or even have the copyright?

Esp. as some sources say there is no law on owning a dashcam, just a law of recording.

Dash cam,well forward facing cam, is a factory fit in my car and i don't think i can turn it off. But it only saves recording if G sensor activates or one manually taps the record button.

Most manufacturers 'avoid them like the plague', due to European GDPR.
