Angles Morts

I actually have 4 plates on my motorhome.

1, Peugeot VIN plate giving all the usual info and showing it as GVW 3,500kg.

2, ALKO VIN plate giving the same info but showing an upgrade to GVW 3,850kg. Both of these are on the slam panel under the bonnet and take up all the space.

3, Sv Tech VIN sticker giving the same info but showing an upgrade to GVW 4,100kg. This is on the drivers side inner wheel arch as per Sv Tech`s instructions.

4, Explorer Group Compass plate giving the Serial Number and the MTPLM 3,850kg. This is a metal 2" x 1" plate on the body down by the habitation door.

Again, in my opinion, you’d stand out like a sore thumb displaying Morts stickers turning up to an Aire like the one we arrived at today, trundling into town on roads all displaying 3.5t signs.
There are 2 - 3.5 weight restrictions in France one shows a lorry which wouldn't apply to motorhomes the one with out the lorry does

In the UK, there are weight limits that apply to commercial vehicles and weight limits that apply to all vehicles. The former have a picture of a lorry on them.
I'm not sure, but I assume it's the same in France.

I know. They also have axle weight limit signs, which presumably apply to all vehicles. However, I’m specifically interested in signs affecting motorhomes.

My Geist is German built and has no manufacturers or other plates externally. Mercedes plate under the bonnet, LMC sticker in hab door footwell and SVTech sticker in hab door footwell. Mine is early 2007 though so may have been before any requirement for external plates.
Original maximum loaded weight was 3850kgs

I cannot recall seeing my weight plate being visible on my MH. It's an Autotrail Comanche which is 4.15t empty and 5t fully laden.

I'll have to have a closer look but as I've washed the blimming thing enough times I thought I would have noticed it by now.
The external weight plate doesn’t apply to U.K. built vehicles, as far as I understand, it applies to French vehicles and maybe other EU countries have them.

Just resurrecting this thread as it seems relevant to Angles Morts which as discussed indicates you're over 3.5t. I've no bothered before but thought I had better comply now (Towing TOADy etc.) Do more than 3..5t have to display the group of white speed limits tickers you often on the rear 80 90 100 KPH ? Or something like that.

as far as i know if its english registered it is not a requirement but i may be wrong of course

Yes, I think you will need speed stickers (80kmh & 90kmh) as the requirement is for vehicles towing with a GTW of over 3500KG.

Not so sure on the Angles Morts though, because there the requirement is on vehicles with a GVW over 3500KG. I need to do more research on that one as getting a trailer.

My Burstner has an external plate showing me as being 3500kg.

Under the bonnet I have the upgraded plate showing 4100kg sticking it on a weighbridge normally shows me as 3450kg fully loaded, water, fuel, occupants, food, clothing etc. Having air suspension has my backside lifted better than a Brazilian butt lift :ROFLMAO:

I have a set of AM stickers that I still haven’t got around to fitting, maybe one day……

Speed stickers only required if you are towing with a combined weight over 3.5T. Not required for foreign registered self contained motorhomes over 3.5T.

Actually, it is not a case of whether or not one is towing, but whether one's MAM or GTM exceeds 3t500. Then, of course, one has to determine whether or not it applies to foreign vehicles.

So with a 4t Moho with 1T TOAD
Not required as UK register, BUT would be if FR registered, and maybe best to just in case
AND? Angles Mort for the back of the TOAD too??

Hope there's enough room on TOAD for these stickers 🙄

80KMH
9OKMH

Angles Mort

The latest information from the CAMC regarding speed stickers. It seems the French don’t even know what a definitive answer is! They claim solo motorhomes fr9m the U.K. do not

Would beg to differ on this. Agree on the weight definitions but applies to towing vehicle combinations only.

Not solo motorhomes that are not French registered.

We have been stopped by the Gendarmes for not wearing gloves on a motorbike (yes I know. No excuses) but have never been stopped for not having speed stickers.

The way I understand the rule on speed stickers is,

GVW 3500 KG, towing a trailer. So the chances are GTW will be over 3500 KG (unless anyone knows of a van with 0 KG towing capacity) need speed stickers.

Solo vehicles over 3500 KG, need speed tickers.

If vehicle is registered in France.

If registered UK, you don't need them, but seems the recommendation is to have them because even the French are confused over this law.

Do you put stickers on van, trailer, or van and trailer? :)
