An insurance company from hell, avoid at all cost.

I refer you to post 11. It appears we are of the same mind!

I was quoted £273 with AIB when I got on a comparison site go compare I think quoted £170 with getinsurd also allowed to drive other vehicles third party cover

We've used Adrian Flux in the past for a kit car.It was a very competitive rate with a well known insurance company.

I've used CaravanGuard for the last five years and have found them to be very good. They win quite a lot of awards.

We were with Comfort for several years but now with the NFU.
I'm with the NFU. For a 2019 £65,000 motorhome plus a 1983 Mercedes they charge me £83 per month, i.e. £996 per annum. For any vehicle over £60,000 a lot of companies require you to have a tracker which was professionally fitted (haha they use skotchlok connectors sometimes) plus the monitoring fee. NFU do not. Also NFU do not charge any extra for paying monthly, which makes it easier when you run out of money before you run out of month. Also I know of a Very Expensive claim they paid without question. My father in law was a very elderly, very incompetent old farmer and his farmhouse blew to pieces in a gas explosion. Everyone was out at the time, except the little dog which was found alive and well in the adjoining field. Knowing what I know about him and me being an ex-gas man I strongly suspect he had done something dodgy to the gas, or not had it safety checked each year. NFU paid for the demolition and removal of the rubble, and rebuilt the house and refurnished it, no problems. So I reckon that if I were to make a claim on my vehicles I am very confident of them paying up without any fuss.

Also this business of insurance policies including breakdown: many bank accounts include that anyway, so when you ask 'how much is it without the breakdown cover?' they always say it is always included you get no discount for not having it. Also when I asked AIB for a NCB discount they said they do not have NCBs on motorhome policies, it is the same if you have NCB or no NCB.

They do actually. For example from my current AIB policy ...
NCB: maximum
NCB Protected: N
Compulsory Excess: £0
Voluntary Excess: £0
Period of cover: 12 months
Drivers: Insured only

And after I took out my first policy with them a couple of years ago ....
Re: Fiat Autotrail Cheyenne 635 Insurance - OUTSTANDING DOCUMENTS
Please note that we still require the following to be returned:-
* Your original renewal notice or no claims bonus

Now IF the price is the same with or without NCD, there is still a reason to keep it active. As mentioned earlier, if the NCD entitlement is not kept active, it expires after 2 years and you loose it. If you move underwriter and the new one uses an NCD for a discount, you could lose out if you went for a non-NCD policy for more than 2 years in a row.
If you DON'T have any NCD, it is a way to start to build one which can be used if you go to an underwriter that uses them for a better price.

Yes I was told I didn't need NCB but I asked for it to be put on my renewal so when I moved to another insurer I had 9 years NCB

I,ve just taken out a policy with Adrian FLUX and boy am I regretting it, notwithstanding their App which took 2 attempts and their intervention to install correctly I have finally run out of patience with their stupidity. So they require 6 photos of the van,one with the reg number on,ok I’ll accept that, they require a certificate stating I will not exceed the 5k mileage but as the policy doesn’t start until 28th I declined until that date and the final straw is proof of no claims, I sent them the renewal from existing insurer stating 9yrs + but that’s not acceptable as I can only use it on one policy, so why not use a little common sense and accept that when it runs out on the 28th it will qualify for the new policy?, no, far too simple, they’re now threatening that they’ll charge me an excess for not providing proof of no claims but in my view I already have, anyway,I’ve requested they refund my £380 which they already have andI’ll find a company that is less frustrating , any recommendations?
Got quoted £5000 for 2023 vw camper a flux

Advance insurance brokers

I then insured with the Caravan and Motorhome club for almost a third of the Flux quote.
I will never insure with them again they are in a world of their own.
I feel that way about Frizzels, who pretend to be the Caravan and Motorhome Club. They are just brokers, and they add over £150 in hifdden fees to cover the bung they give to the club for the use of their name.

But that's not why I'd never consider insuring through them: it's becasue they knowingly failed to renew my policy without telling me, except by sending me a letter to my home address saying that the premium payment had not gone through, despite having been told that I was away on a trip at the renewal date. Both the C&M club and the CEO of Frizells phoned me to apologise, but that was all.

In the end I renewed with the same insurance company on the same policy, but for £100 less, through another broker.

So got a few quotes and it seems that a few of the comparison sites best recommendations are actually brokers?, the best so far are around £360 ,I tried saga who wanted £1100 (maybe that includes a cruise) ,makes you wonder how much insurance would really be without all the commissions 😅

A couple of years ago I tried a wide range of "companies". Three of them used the same underwriters but they ranged in price from approx £300 to £1100: it pays to shop around.

On a limited mileage policy, the MOT mileage would only be relevant if the MOT occured on the same day the insurance policy was taken out though.
Which is why I qualified my statement.
"Why does anyone need proof of mileage when they have MOT records, and you can provide an accurate one when the policy starts?"

So I’m leaning toward a c-ompany called “ripe”, they’re new -to me ,not cheapest but £450 and they’re underwritten by Aviva, anyone heard of them?

If doing limited mileage some do ask for a current photo of the odometer reading.

Insurance can be a right mare, When comparing, all questions must be asked and no assumptions made. Many quotes for what are supposedly like for like quotes in reality when gone into the small print are nothing alike. Many just go for the lowest figure and then come unstuck in the future.

Safeguard for me. Every year I do some comparisons and every year they come out cheapest. I also get the full break down/Euro cover as well as the MH is 8.7m long and 5t. I had to make a claim a couple of years ago and it was sorted ASAP...very efficient.
