I,ve just taken out a policy with Adrian FLUX and boy am I regretting it, notwithstanding their App which took 2 attempts and their intervention to install correctly I have finally run out of patience with their stupidity. So they require 6 photos of the van,one with the reg number on,ok I’ll accept that, they require a certificate stating I will not exceed the 5k mileage but as the policy doesn’t start until 28th I declined until that date and the final straw is proof of no claims, I sent them the renewal from existing insurer stating 9yrs + but that’s not acceptable as I can only use it on one policy, so why not use a little common sense and accept that when it runs out on the 28th it will qualify for the new policy?, no, far too simple, they’re now threatening that they’ll charge me an excess for not providing proof of no claims but in my view I already have, anyway,I’ve requested they refund my £380 which they already have andI’ll find a company that is less frustrating , any recommendations?

Safeguard.
Have used Adrian flux in the past and they were very good . Their prices (for me) went through the roof .
Double surprised that they were useless AND cheap

I changed from flux after my first 2 years to AIB, try them, they also cover breakdown anywhere, well maybe ukraine & russia are of the board. 😂

My current insurance is with Scenic and was only slightly up on the Saga policy it replaced last year. Not needed to claim so I can’t give an opinion from that angle.

Cheers

Another vote for Comfort here.
We’ve been with them for many years - if you ring them very helpful and nothing is too much bother. Prices go up a little each year but not exorbitantly so. 5*

We had to claim a few years back. In Spain on a Saturday evening and fiesta time - very quickly sorted out.

I dont see why you have to send a certificate stating the mileage you will do when you have already stated your intended mileage in your application.
No other insurance company ask for a separate declaration whether for motorhome of car, it's as though they dont trust one that they wish you to make a separate declaration.
I bought a motorhome 14 months ago having sold my last one before lock down having been insured with Adrian Flux for 10 years without a claim but because I hadn't owned a motorhome for 4 to 5 years they wouldn't give me any no claim bonus or even a introductory bonus and they quoted me over £800 to insure with them having a clean license and my previous years of no claim with them.
So I declined with them but he rang me back the next day to ask me if I was going to insurer with them to which I replied I definitely would not be insuring with them as they were far too expensive and their customer skills were poor.
I then insured with the Caravan and Motorhome club for almost a third of the Flux quote.
I will never insure with them again they are in a world of their own.

Another vote for Comfort here. Competitive prices, easy to deal with staff on the phone.
They were very helpful on buying a new van and swapping registrations.
Why does anyone need proof of mileage when they have MOT records, and you can provide an accurate one when the policy starts?

On a limited mileage policy, the MOT mileage would only be relevant if the MOT occured on the same day the insurance policy was taken out though.

The NCD thing with insurers is interesting. Sometimes they want to see proof, sometimes they don't and accept your word for it. The last two car policies we've had, stated the NCD and both times - last was Coop, current is RAC - the insurers said no need to send (it is possible they could look it up on a database I guess, but don't think told them the previous insurer though).

As far as littleMaisys point about flux not accepting hers, an NCD is only accepted within 2 years of last insurance, so if sold a van in 2020 and had 10 years NCD on a policy, if that is not used by 2022, it expires and have to start again! Industry-wide and not Adrian Flux.
This is why as the OH and I now share the same car, each year we alternate the insurance policyholder so we are never more than one year away from keeping the NCDs valid.
Some may match a used NCD or do an intro offer (on the vans, I've have matched offers in the past). Best yet is adding the OH car to my Admiral multicar policy, she had 1 year NCD and they gave her 10 years to match mine! And it wasn't just a price offer as a year later, she had a letter confirming 11 years NCD in her name.

On the Motorhome, been with AIB for a few years now. Their renewal price is always near enough the same as best quotes I get elsewhere so just stay. I do check each year mind, don't blindly just accept the price. Don't bother haggling over a few pounds if they are slightly over. TBH, compared to the price most here seem to quote, I seem pretty lucky?

I renewed with them on the 1st of February and had no problem with them what I found with them that they gave me unlimited glass cover as you will probably know I have an Aclass and to replace the windscreen is over £2000 so my advice is make sure you get unlimited glass cover cheers Big Al

What is the deal with no claims bonus on motorhomes? I seem to remember there was some hoo-hah over AIB not providing it as proof if you moved or that it wasnt really applicable to motorhomes. Can't remember. I have been with AIB for a fair few years now but when we changed vans last year it went through the roof. Ill be shopping around this year as ill have more time. Been happy with AIB though so unless its loads cheaper elsewhere ill probably stay.

That's a change with AF: I took out a policy with them 10y ago and when the documents came through it said glass cover was limited to £1500. I complained that this was not stated during the phone sales and, long story short, I got the full refund of my money (they wanted to keep £25 arrangement fee!). I tried AF a couple of years ago and they still limited glass coverage.

PS In my rejected application documentation it also stated that I needed annual hab checks and two fire extinguishers, certified as "in date". ALWAYS read the T&Cs!

I always thought AF was a broker and not an insurance company.

Is the problem with AF or an insurance company?
It’s the broker and their app, I’ve had more messages via the app than I get from all others combined, I’m a reclusive person and they’re driving me crazy, 2 this morning trying to sell me stuff I don’t need

I had been with AIB but when they had to change insurance it went up considerably. I then found Ripe. They had various add on's like various windscreen cover (£3000 for me) milage, brake down & recovery. It worked out the same price as the previous year.

Safeguard - allowed me to run with 2 policies temporarily when I had both the Burstner and Hymer insured while waiting to sell the Burstner. Then when I sold it I also got a refund on a portion of the unused policy. This year the renewal came in cheaper than last year too.
