NT Blakeney and Wells Next Sea

As I see it there are two related items here, both addressed by the council and published in full in the REC thread mentioned above.: Barriers. They are there to discriminate against Gypsies and Travellers in Caravans and Motor Caravans. Barriers will normally remain open but as soon as...

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

I've now received the attached from the council. The council now says that barriers were erected on advice from the police with the intention that they could be closed (and reopened?) at police request. The council says the subject is now closed; the council has nothing to add. I knew of...

Cowbar at staithes are trying to ban camping again

Completed. I believe the council has decided and the survey is simply to give it a semblance of democratic authority. It's not much of a choice of answers to the questions, is it? Do you want the council to take powers to stop people defecating in public? Yes, No, Don't know. The...

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

I think that is probably an accurate guess. I've asked for a discussion with a Manager with Tourism admin in his job description. Up to now my discussions have been with the Chief Executive (this almost never happens - only once before with me) or with his PA. I've no idea if this will come...

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

Yes, you're right. Completely unfair to assume the council's guilt and almost in the same breath demand that Travellers must not be assumed guilty unless charged and convicted - though plenty do. I'll modify that in future.

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

North Norfolk District Council maintains a register of authorised camping sites and they've made it available to me. But not just to me though I had to ask for it, they publish it on the interent too. This might do it lic_register_caravan.pdf (north-norfolk.gov.uk) but I attach a copy...

    Poor Whitby a ghost town

And yet ... In an over four year period from 1st July 2014 to 30th August 2018 there was only one complaint listed in council records. It seems we're more concerned about us than the public (in Whitby) is. Your points are valid but not seemingly a matter of concern to Whitby residents.

    Poor Whitby a ghost town

This was the time Scarborough claimed there were around a thousand complaints about motorhomes in Whitby. The FoI officer later said that in a three of four year period up to 2018, I'd misunderstood her. There were actually around a thousand complaints covering all matters. There were...

    Poor Whitby a ghost town

Whitby Town Council have already made their view known to Scarborough Council about authorising overnight parking, Supported, as far as I remember, by the local Chamber of Commerce. http://nyenquirer.uk/wtc-pro-whitby-aire/ The caravan park owner was Councillor Andrew Backhouse –...

    Are councils finally getting it?

Not sure if you've seen the attached. Motorhomes and Wildcamping. I'm fairly certain I published it when the council sent it to me but it's worth keeping a library of such documents. Some will remember that I was in touch with the Highlands Council - about Dornoch - not all that long ago and...

    Are councils finally getting it?

Ideally we would all be treated as motorists and have all the parking rights in your motorhome as you have in your car. For whatever reason over the years we have become subject to restrictins n more and more places. The continental example of how to deal with mtorhoomes is the one most of us...

    Lochore aire locals object?

It's been an eye opener for me too (Val54). Scottish Community Councils seem to be immune to any scrutiny. The FoI does not cover them. What this means is that any Community Councillor is immune to any investigation. A simple no comment will do as an answer to any query. We have no right...

    Lochore aire locals object?

Like Val54 I'd thought of Scottish Community Councils as being the equivalent of Parish and Town councils in England. I think this might not be true. I;d not looked at it from the point of view of complaints to the Ombudsman but only from the point of view of provision of information to...

    Lochore aire locals object?

Every day's a school day. An immediate response from the Community Council. According to the Secretary, they are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. So much for transparency then. It will cost nothing to ask the Information Commissioner if this is true and I'll do that and...

    Lochore aire locals object?

I wonder if Tom has any interests he should declare: An immediate reply isn't expected. The Community Council has 20 working days in which to reply.

    Lochore aire locals object?

Yes. Like this you mean? I use a, paid for, tool called Faststone Capture. https://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm But there is a free trial of 30 days before purchase. I use one or other of the facilities all the time but probably not worth paying for if it's only occasionally...

    Lochore aire locals object?

Tom Kinnaird, Whitevanman? https://benartycc.org.uk/about/ There's remarkably little information about the councillors of Benarty Community Council. I'm not all sure if Councillors at this level of local government are required to declare a register of interests but Benarty Community...

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

Apart from the error in admitting they were discriminating against Travellers, the situation in N Norfolk now mirrors the situation in Fleetwood about four or five years ago. That was documented in one or two threads but this one...

    Wells on Sea...no go area!

I had no idea that some could not read pdf files. Nevertheless, it might be useful if I publish my complaint to the council - so here it is attached. I hope that all will download a pdf reader. All my devices, PC, Tablet, Phone have a pdf reader; difficult to see how we can manage without...
