  1. Thinking about getting a motorhome

Make sure you have seat belts for all the seats. There are MHs about stating they are 4 or 6 berth with only 2 or 4 seat belts. If it smells damp when you walk in - walk away.
  2. Uprating from 3.5 to 3.8 or 4t

The MH we are getting isn't new but has the layout we want and got a very good deal trading ours in. Getting just what we wanted was like finding hens' teeth. We'll give Svtech a call when we get sorted and keep our fingers crossed. And if can't be done we will be going minimalist.
  3. Uprating from 3.5 to 3.8 or 4t

How do you go about uprating MH. We are just about to change vehicle and don't want to go overweight. The one we have now was uprated when we got it so never had to worry about how much we put in it. (After emptying it out, even that was probably not enough:scared::lol-053: )
  4. Experience - 70 Retaining C1 on driving licence

Good advice re doctors medical. He would have gone down that route, but it's a nightmare getting appointments - I've passed the message on and he will mention what you said when he goes. Probably he would have got a quick private appointment with the money incentive. 😀
  5. Experience - 70 Retaining C1 on driving licence

As John will be 70 in August we came back to UK a little earlier than we would have liked as we had seen stories of licences taking ages to come back. Someone recommended Doctors on Wheels to us as being reasonably priced. Looked on line and found earliest appointment 3 weeks so bit the bullet...
  6. Bust a handle :( An almost impossible WANTED ?

Have you tried O'Learys at Beverley - their place is like an Alladins cave or Magnums at Grimsby.
  7. Another newbie

Hiya pleased you decided to join. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves. See you soon 👌
  8. Beware motorhome robberies in the south of France!

The only thing that I'm not keen of in exchange MH we will be getting shortly is that we will be back to having 3 doors again. It's been good just having one to worry about for the past 3 years. This is the trick we will be using with the cab doors - drill holes into the door jamb and slot two...
  9. Orkney midges

Use antihistamine cream and antihistamine tablet makes bites more bearable.
  10. Port Security

Security has tightened up a lot. Came through half an hour ago. 2 passport control. Then booking in followed by every camper opened and checked. They even properly checked faces against passport.
  11. Calais again.

We're sat waiting to board ferry now. I'm pleased to see all the security in place. We came too early for a start - had to either pay €29 to get on ferry which was docked or wait for next one for free (still before we were due). Just went and sat for an hour watching police cars coming and going...
  12. How's the weather in France?

We are going to start heading up the east side of France and into Germany, from Monday, so will let you have weather details etc when we go. As for now we're near Marseille - clear blue skies and hot.
  13. Renewing license at 70

Following this thread with interest. John is 70 beginning August so that is why we are heading back at end of the month.
  14. WiFi in Germany

Thanks folks - had forgotten about Fon. I have occasionally used it in France
  15. WiFi in Germany

Hiya Carol - Don't want hassle of looking for fuel in France - it'll have to France Passion sites another time. John's got his way - looking at Motorhomes. Only looking mind lol I've booked the ferry for 29th June - got a £20 meal deal in with it. Heard from Bill And Sonia and Alison and...
  16. WiFi in Germany

We will be heading to Germany shortly - any suggestions for wifi. If I remember right, you couldn't log in at McDs without a password being sent to German phone number. Any other places would be useful if anyone has any. We've been using 3 mobile since 1st March in France and Spain but...
  17. Ferry to callais .

We had a breakfast last September which was ok so we will probably stick to that.
  18. Churrasco de Ternera

You could well be right :scared:
  19. Ferry to callais .

Unfortunately haggling didn't work a couple of years ago when I wanted to go back. I ended up paying well over the odds to get on one the next day - they wouldn't entertain any price reductions apart from it was stupid money to get on immediately. It was still about £123 for next day. I will...
  20. Churrasco de Ternera

I'd forgotten I'd posted this. All I remember now is - more like stew meat that had been grilled - tough as old boot leather. Certainly the wrong way to cook whatever it was. An experience not to be repeated.
