Morrisons ( REFUSE TO FILL LPG)

Discrimination..... For refusing to sell LPG

Give over

I doubt there's a chance in hell that would stick.

IF you've said as usual "they would be kneecapped By balaclava wearing bad men"

I might have (almost) taken you seriously
Can be arranged. 😂

we found earlier this year a lot of French and Italian mway services would not allow LPG filling we have an extarnal point and an underslung tank but it wouldnt wash, the issue is the tax situation LPG for cooking is not allowed to be refilled from the services as its taxed differently as you have to pay in advance its difficult to get round, I soon cottoned on and said it was an LPG vehicle!

Apparently not. Just seen this in FUN. This was a reply sent to one of the members from MFG. Looks like they are digging in their heels. I'm not sure lots of people contacting them has helped to be honest.

Any luck or update unfortunately I got the same reply from the same person. Ive also contacted several manufacturers who are ultimately more unimpressed than us. Camko have stated that they manufacture thier bottles to be filled this way. They have told me that we need to put an indirect discrimination claim against MFG
Key Elements of Indirect Discrimination several elements are present:

The specific applied policy causes disadvantage leading to indirect discrimination to a selected Group and manufacturers.

Individual Disadvantage: The individual customer must be personally disadvantaged by the policy.

Lack of Objective Justification: The service provider cannot demonstrate that the policy is a "proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim" (e.g., a real business or health and safety need). Especially when said product meet uk health and safety standards.

Ill keep this thread updated

Funny enough yesterday I made a call to mfg customer services stating facts etc rumours of certain mfg sites filling motorhomes from external but after debating the rights and wrongs regarding this issue they are fixed in the rep,y that they are not permitting external fill ups or gas bottle refills

the nearest morrisons to us sell the cheapest derv and gas, so when we go we fill up with both, thus so far, no problems. That said though, Cheshire gas filling station is only 20 mins away and you just pull up to the pump and do the business and they stay in their nice warm office..

To be fair I can understand exactly where they are coming from....

Their insurance etc must have been pretty unimpressed by the fire on one of their sites...

And the impracticality to have staff trained to spot poor quality refillable installs on motorhomes/campervans...

It's much easier for them to default to No.

Not sure about Morrisons Leyland anymore since we moved however .......................................................................

Preston Calor, Factory Lane, Penwortham, Preston. PR1 9UT allow LPG filling but only to fully fitted systems, no Ebay adapters or loose bottles, not even the SafeFill.

The first time you go they come out and inspect the filling system then if it`s all correct they let you fill and take your registration.

There are cctv cameras covering all angles of the LPG pump so they can see your registration after that you connect up press the large black button and it will start filling. You then just to go into the shop to pay, there is no pay at the pump option.

Just had a lengthy debate at Morrison Livingston when they refused to fill my system ,I would not move off the forecourt and caused a in house at till queue as I stood my ground awaiting head office call me
Sad to say they would not refill my system even though I pointed out the system is recognised by the mcc etc here's their e mail to me
Gonna ask the mrs to not buy ought from them nooooooo

I installed an external filler point with the other end screwed onto the bottle so I don't open the locker & get the bottle out👍

Think this has already been shared....

I see from another group that Total Energies France are now in the same way refusing the filling of motorhomes, now it’s only for propulsion.

Total have refused HM filling for years, IMSMW, this is down to tax reasons between gpl used for propulsion compared to tax paid for home use heating and cooking..

There seems to be some ambiguity from the staff at Morrisons. I see the post from Mistericeman and then I look at the signage up in the garages now. There is a disconnect! The signage only refers to cylinders. The poster on Facebook also received this email which implies that fixed tanks are good to go. So between the post by Mistericeman and the post on a motorhome page on Facebook, there is a big difference! I am confused... Although the sign does say the use of adapters is not allowed!

I am 90% sure it was mainly Total we used for LPG in France last year though. We never had any issues. Filler on the side. If they have stopped allowing motorhome LPG fills its a massive problem as we came across them more than any other provider.

Ah yes. Facebook. The bastion of truth and experts. :D

I think it will all come down to who has read the memo.
Wifey used to manage a petrol station/shop before retirement..she said years ago that whoever owns or manages a shop does not have to serve anyone. They have the right to refuse service..
so I guess refilling gas comes into it.
Or as you say "read the memo"

It's quite simple, if Morrisons refuses to allow me to fill my gas cylinder, (fully fitted system), once or twice a year; then I'm not prepared to fill my van with diesel, ( most months), or my car with petrol, ( most weeks), at their establishments.
