Thought might do a little poll to see what is most common ...

So in your Motor Caravan (so Motorhome OR Campervan) for sleeping do you use:

1) Normal Domestic Bedding (e.g. Undersheet and Duvet, or maybe Blanket if over 85 :D )

2) Camping Bedding (e.g. Sleeping Bags)

3) 'Special' Motorhome Bedding

If you do vote for 3), be interested to know what - could be something great out there others don't know about?

To Kick the poll off, I have always used standard home bedding - duvet, pillows, sheets, etc, with a fleece/throw on top.

I don't like breathing cold air so the option of super-warm bedding and not heating up the van has never appealed (and when I have had no heating not been any fun :( )
Have occasionally supplemented with a hot water bottle.

We had the duvalays in our last van, but our new one has a double bed and normal bedding is fine. We have a summer duvet and a winter one, the one not being used is stored below the sheet like a mattress topper. Easy storage and a comfy surface to lie on.

Summer & winter duvet, if really cold good sleeping bag.
I like sleeping in cold with good duvet or bag, if I've got company and it's cold, I'll leave heating on, wait till they fall asleep and then turn it off and open windows. :lol-053:

Kingsize domestic down duvet on a domestic double mattress...
Extra width ensures cosiness even when fighting with other half and the whippets for bed space.

Duvet, pillows and a four legged furry friend.

It is the missing Duvet (due to the missing mattress due to the missing bed!) that is stopping my cat moving into the campervan! right now she jumps in, looks around clearly disgusted and settles for a short time on the dashboard and then leaves.
Once a bed is in place in all the campers, she moves in in the morning (sits at the door waiting for me to open it) and then I have to leave the door open for her so she can leave when she is ready in the evening :egg:

I have a domestic double size bed as well, but there will also be around 4" of space either side so that extra "shoulder room" should be pretty handy :)

Another vote for Duvalay.
Tried expensive down sleeping bag but hate the feeling of being confined with restricted movement so it’s now gathering dust in a wardrobe.
Another £200.00 wasted lol.

I use a deconstructed Duvalay  In other words, a memory foam mattress topper and a duvet. I put the topper inside a spare duvet cover or wrap it right round in a big stretchy sheet... either way it serves as a sheet, all rolls up together and gets fastened with 2 luggage straps and thrown up in the overhead.

Not familiar with Duvalay. Will have to look that up.

Good to see lots of votes ... keep them coming.

(and if you like the thread, like and thanks please - who knows, might win the prize to pay for the Raspberry Pi on the Venus GX waffly post! :lol-049:)

We have a duvalay mattress which I must say is very comfortable, none of that 'I'll be glad to get back in my own bed' thing.
We use sheets and a duvet cover, normal domestic pillows, carried two tog ratings of duvet on our recent trip through France and into Spain.
So glad we did. We do not like too much heat to sleep in and although it was sometimes dropping to -6 and -8 overnight we preferred the heating off for sleeping.
Used the heavy when really cold and the lighter when the temperature picked up. Our first time making that journey going from cold to heat, something else to consider.

decent duvet with a blanket for cold night on ikea mattress cut down to fit 4ft fitted sheet to fit the bed from dunelm cheap duvet on the top for day time use as a cover to keep other one clean and somwhere to crash during day without having to put on jim jams

We do exactly the same, we like to breathe cold air so we have a rooflight open above the bed even in extremely cold weather so two duvets can be useful

Bit of a mix,IKEA mattress and double sleeping bag used as duv, never thought of hot water bottle but will give it a try.

The Permanent Double Berth in the Aft cabin of The Nest has a slightly shaped Mattress, I use a King size Duvet cover to actually put the Matress in, This kinda serves as a Fittet Sheet that You don’t have to constantly wrestle with, I then have a Matching Double Duvet cover set for my Duvet & Pillow cases.
Cheap, Washes well, Dries Quickly, Standerd & Easily got hold of, & often bought in 2 or 3 sets at a time.

Duvalays for us. We've tried normal bedding of all sorts but the Duvalays are so quick to deploy/store and are more comfortable than duvets over and under.

Pull Down double bed, with memory foam topper, double quilt, a couple of throws, if needed a hot water bottle hand sky light open, because i favour that toasty warm body with cool, fresh air sleep.

I always feel it is part of a health life to have a good nights sleep, together with long walks, lots of water, fresh food and vodka, making up a healthy & balanced lifestyle.

Another vote for Duvalay, but then I should a lot depends on what sort of bed you have in the motorhome if it is a fixed bed then I should imagine that you would just use normal bedding.
But if you make your bed up from the seating then Duvalay,s just make up the missing comfort of a fixed bed.
