EU Pet Passports no longer valid for UK residents

Yes. The legal position is more complex than most people are interpreting, and people with a lot more expertise than me are arguing whether existing passports are still valid (the issue of new passports seems clear, they are not to be issued non-EU residents). As of today, the French douane website still says EU passports are accepted for entry, without any mention of conditions.

The tunnel seems to still be accepting passports but other carriers aren't.

There is some scaremongering about whether EU vets can enter the return-to-UK worming details on passports; but since there is no doubt that they are valid for entry into the UK (the controversy is about entry into the EU) I can't see any basis for this, and nobody so far has shown me anything other than anecdotes.

Honestly, if I were going over next week I'd probably get a cheap AHC. I would be spitting feathers, but for the sake of £99 I would probably not risk the hassle.
Jo that link is from 2022 !
Have , again , contacted DFDS . No joy . Rechecked Irish ferries , same as DFDS .
Should change the title of this thread to Vets for AHC .
Can't remember the one I used previously . Pretty sure there will be some on here with good info

Prices look like they are coming down.

This is the one we have used, more than once.

+1 for AHC Direct. First time we met and collected from an M4 service area. Second time we went to the vet's house in Llanelli on a Sunday afternoon on the way to the Fishguard ferry.

I got to meet the vet in the Waitrose car park in Monmouth. If Phill hadn't been with me it would have felt a bit risqué as he was tall, dark, and good looking!

Sadly, our beautiful Spollie, Tess left us yesterday. After 15yrs as a loyal companion she is missed so much by us.

You may like to check out the thread on MotorhomeFun - Forthcoming changes to EU pet travel legislation On p60 (#1784 & 1795) there are replies from the French and Spanish Agriculture Departments which state that Pet Passports issued prior to the change In April will still be valid.

The conclusion is that in practice Border Controls will take a pragmatic approach to PPs already issued to UK citizens (and others). AFAIK checks on PP’s are always done on this side of the channel, at least that’s been my experience travelling by BF to either France or Spain from Portsmouth.

I emailed my vet in Belgium and she has confirmed she will be able to vaccinate Molly and add the details in her EU pet passport, I’ve heard that French vets may not be allowed to if you aren’t resident. I’m waiting for a reply from my French vet as it is on my route if i go west .

I heard that too, but only anecdotally and nobody has offered anything at all to back it up. I'm pretty sure that it's just scaremongering; the validity of returning to the UK with EU pet passports has never been in question so there's no reason why French vets should refuse to do vaccinations and worming.
