The OP socket is 12dc input, 5v dc out put. (post #7). So this will not help.

The socket you have shown is 12v DC input and using technical magic it changes thie to 5v on the output side.

You say that the socket is 13,4 volts DC across the input terminals so there are 3 possibilities,

a) The socket is broken and isn't outputting 5v
Get 5v usb voltage tester (under £5)

I could try this.

b) The wire is broken or is data only
Try again using a wire that you know charges a device.

I have done this but no change.

c) The device (phone) is broken,

The device is not broken as it works in other sockets as does the USB plug that the iPhone plugs into.

either the socket is brocken or one of your test results is wrong.

P.s. Not sure what [/B] as does the USB plug that the iPhone plugs into. means
I assume that you mean the wire that connects the phone to the socket

It is a 12 volt socket with a plug-in 5V adaptor (well, that is how I see it). My gizmo will prove the socket is working or not. If it is OK then the adaptor is faulty.

Disagree. It is a socket that inputs 12v and outputs 5 volts, not a 12v cigar lighter socket with a 5v adaptor. Look again at the phot in post #7.

Different brands of phone can also affect the charging, especially since the 'fast charging'/battery protection 'enhancement' some 2-3 years ago. Elaine had a Samsung Galaxy S22 and it would charge quite happily on the USBs you installed, David; but Google started the fast charging/battery protection with the Pixel 7 Pro, and my phone would refuse to charge using the same cable and socket, albeit, I could sometimes get it to work by jiggling connections around, standing on one leg and pointing my index finger towards the transmitter etc - utter nonsense!

Yup, some time back I was getting very confused when I had right confusion of sockets, cables and devices and it all got very random what three items would actually work together.

At first I thought it was a CBE dual usb socket BUT the USBs are on the wonk so came to the conclusion it was a 12v ciggy socket with a dual usb adapter plugged in.
My prediction is the fault will reoccur because you've got a bad connection somewhere.

Time to go modern with these, your ph is 5v and these convert from 12 to 5, take your pick on ebay.

Not all usb is 5v.
A good usb phone charger will offer 5v, 9v, 12v, maybe 20v to the phone. Though you'll not get 20v out of one that runs off a 12v socket.
Fixing a faulty 12v socket is far easier than replacing it with a big board of stuff.
