Rouen a no go?

Hi, ours is a crit air 4 motor home and we were given some useful information on this site.
We now apply for a day pass that allows us to go through Rouen on a specified day. You book it in advance upto a couple of weeks in advance.
Go onto the Metropole Rouen Normandie. You have to create an account. I do find it difficult each time I do it but so far have managed eventually.
By the way it is free.
We have gone around it several times, personally find it a pain. Much easier t go through Rouen.
Dont forget if you go on the short 3 euro section of motorway after Rouen which we always use as it saves alot of time there are now no toll booths so you have to create an account to pay automatically.
We are off on the 19th January to Dieppe but we will be booking our pass for Rouen at least a week in advance.

Has it changed. I went along that short section of autoroute a year or so ago and that section was exempt from payment…as confirmed by their website.

If you are traveling Rouen south, towards A154( Evreux )and take the short bit of the A13 motorway it is definitely chargeable online or tag only.

We stay on the A13 until the N154 ( about 3 euros, worth every penny as misses out alot of bad roads) heading for Evreux ( direct road to Chartres) a very fast road.

Thanks roger

There have been votes in France to ban the ZFE low-emission zones, but they have not yet been passed into law. Even if they are banned, French authorities can still impose temporary bans on driving certain categories of vehicles in certain areas due to levels of pollution, and these bans are likely to be based on Crit'Air categories, so even if ZFEs are eventually banned, the Crit-Air stickers are still likely to be required.

I wish I’d known this a few days ago, I’ve spent every spare moment during this week, trying to get on the website to book a passage through Rouen, (glutton for punishment, I know)
In the end I wrote to the Tourist Office in Rouen and they put me straight.

Is that old info? that and Rouen tourism don't concur.
Rouen Tourisme indicate that there is a ZFE: https://en.visiterouen.com/practice/information/coming-to-rouen/ (and click on If you take the car...).
"A ZFE-m is in force in the Rouen-Normandie metropolitan area. A Low Emission Zone (ZFE-m) is a delimited geographical area where the circulation of the most polluting vehicles is restricted. For more information: zfe.metropole-rouen-normandie.fr"

If you are referring to the reply to @RoaminRog we need to know, for example, whether he had indicated a specific Crit'Air category, or whether the 24-hour pass is no longer required for some other reason.

I wrote to the Tourist Office because I couldn’t get the website to respond. I requested a link to the website. I must confess I didn’t give any vehicle details because I just wanted a link.
Please feel free to do your own reasearch, and see what you can find.

Just to make sure I wasn’t giving anyone a bum steer, I replied back to the Tourist Office and again here is their reply.

Hello Sir,

I can confirm that ZFE is not mandatory anymore in France, nor is the 24h pass.

Looking forward to welcoming you,
I remain at your disposal for any further information,

It must be true just read it on face ache
France scraps mandatory low-emission zones in major cities
‘ZFEs’ criticised for hitting those who cannot afford less-polluting vehicles hardest
France’s parliament has dropped a mandatory requirement for towns to have low-emission traffic zones, as part of a Bill “simplifying” the economy.
The Bill, which split MPs loyal to Emmanuel Macron, the French president, came after critics argued that such zones unfairly punish poorer motorists unable to change to less polluting vehicles.
Under French laws passed in 2019 and 2021, local authorities whose urban areas exceed regulatory air-quality thresholds must set up low-emission zones (ZFEs). The aim is to cut emissions of fine particles, which the authorities say are responsible for 48,000 deaths a year in France, by excluding certain old or polluting vehicles.
Some 24 towns and cities, notably Paris and Lyon, as well as Grenoble and Montpellier, have introduced these to varying degrees.
Vehicles that enter such zones must carry “Crit’Air” stickers proving their low pollution levels. Those who fail to comply risk being hit by a fine of up to €135 (£115).
All French cities with more than 150,000 residents were supposed to introduce ZFEs this year.
But a group of MPs from the National Rally and the Right – along with a few independents and MPs from Emmanuel Macron’s group – tabled a proposal to scrap the zones altogether.
Unusually, the hard-Left France Unbowed party also backed ditching ZFEs, although it opposed the Bill overall.

Shame we don't follow suite
