Shamrock Diaries

If you go to the Republic.
You must visit Jonnie Foxes Pub...( Google it.)]
It's got a heliport for the VIPs, who come to dine and watch the superb cabaret shows.

They were wonderful with us, parked outside, and we stayed until we really had to find a dump point and the weather
improved..
We booked for the show, on the last night of our visit, a month's hence.
When we returned they recognised us and allowed us into the show, for free.
Can't recommend it enough.
A real highlight.

Oh yes I had some memorable nights in there when we used to go over to Dublin with work. Well I say "work". No trip to Ireland was ever considered work.

Good blues festival that time of year Marie Doll.

So, if all goes well we’re setting off for the Emerald Isle a week today 👍🤞

Last minute rush though: intermittent starting problem with the camper was the last bit of servicing to be done and it had turned into a bit of a last minute cliffhanger! 😱🫣😳

Finally sorted today, got call from garage today and we are picking it up tomorrow morning.

Will be a bit of a manic last minute rush on to get it fully prepped and loaded between now and next Tuesday (eek!), but I will have a week to collapse and recover in the peace and quiet of the Mayo housesit once we get there before heading off for the south west… 🤞💪👌☘️🪉

1 hour tops

Oh, really? Bully for you 🙄😜

We all have different requirements and needs in our lives and in our vans, and we all have different ideas on what is or isn’t necessary and how we go about things. Once upon a time I could do things super fast and in record time. These days it takes me a lot longer - a helluva lot longer! - to do most things due to chronic fatigue, not a lot I can do about that now is there? 🤷‍♀️

The van has been at the garage and away from our premises for nearly a month and I’m someone who likes to be very well prepped for an extended trip. This is a big deal for me.

But, I’m pleased to hear you’re so superbly efficient and well organised yourself, well done, give yourself a gold star and go to the top of the class 👍😎😉🖕

Thanks for that .
Top tip : get 2 (or 3 if you must) decent sized bin bags . Fill them with stuff .
Job done .
p.s. empty the cludgy

We don't usually empty the van, just food, worn clothes and bedding mostly, we have enough in there to have at least one week away, just chuck fresh bedding in and go, we used to empty it but here it's awkward to take stuff in and out, so we limit it.

I'm kind of with you on this one. Our van doesn't really get emptied but every year it still seems to take an age to prepare for a big trip which is generally up to half the year and there is always half a room full of boxes and stuff to go in. No idea whats in them. I never quite work out what takes so long. Probably because Michelle seems to be in control of it all. :D I have a trip list each year. Its pretty much the same check list but somehow most of the stuff on it needs ticking off again. There is the odd job or two to do or some little project you promised yourself you would do at the end of last year. MOT and service today ticked off at least.

So I agree Marie. I don't think you can just jump in and go, least not for a long one.

Whilst I sort of agree with yours and Maries comments Barry regarding long trips, I thought Allen's post was kinda tongue in cheek?

We generally pack the van in a couple of hours before we leave though, mainly because we usually only go for a few days and very rarely more than a week. I wish we could but we have too many ties. :(

Overnight is my longest day away, we leave a auto feeder for the cat but he cries like a baby, all over us when we return.
We mainly visit castles places of interest and some stoneage sites around ireland, also grab a meal in ireland as they dont do fast food like up here in n ireland.
As for packing stuff, na some ods and ends like coffee tea and maybe a petza etc.
