All electric motorhomes.... Possible or not?

Currently all ca
Don't hold your breath on any of it.
i agree, let’s see how technology progresses.
It would be economic madness to enforce something that would lead to major issues regarding vans. Of course hybrid vehicles are exempt until 2035, this could offer a way of extending vans until 2035. Of course as it stands motorhomes are exempt until 2035.

Most definitely. Huge changes can happen in 10 years.

Not least that none of us might be around in 2035! :)
You’re just a whipper snapper Rob, you’ll still be posting on here from your version of the national grid. I heard when you go to a campsite you offer free EHU to the vans either side of you. :)

Always seemed a huge mistake that they didn't push for hybrid for 2035 then see how feasible others are then

I didn't mean that just the oldies might not be here in 2035 Bill.... :(

Not sure if it's a bonus that Euro 7 is now 26/27 now, and do I even bother about thinking about a new van 🤣

If I am still around I’ll be 81 at the end of 2035 Rob.
We never know what’s in front of us, so let’s make the best of the time we have left.
One of the best things I did was buy my first van in 2016, we just love heading out.
Next trip Isle of Man next week, then over to Arran in October.
In some ways best years of my life, my only regret is not getting a van sooner.
Strange really, I can be a tight fisted old git sometimes, but not when it comes to buying a motorhome, this one might be our last, or maybe not, let’s wait and see ;)

ATM there is no BEV in the Ducato size that will suit our usage, but as above, hybrid will be sold new for many years.
For WVM BEV's are starting to make bigger inroads, the first BEV I saw in use was around 10 years ago, and it's still going strong, used by the maintenance manager for a local estate. Several delivery drivers in our area are using BEV's and loving them. I know several local tradesmen who have switched to BEV's and more who are considering them as their diesels are not liking short journeys. BT alone has several thousand BEV's.
Royal Mail in Stevenage have been using BEV's for quite a few years, at first they proved to be problematical due to the short range of the early Sprinter EV, and charging issues with the smaller vans, not sure if they have sorted it out, but they should have done by now.

Colin motorhomes are exempt until 2035 and can be purchased with diesel engines until then. My only concern might be availability due to lower demand due to other countries doing the same as us. Production levels may be too low to be viable for the manufacturers. I reckon they will start producing hybrid vans to allow purchase for vans until 2035.

Is the ZEV mandate, "70% of new vans sold in Great Britain will now be zero emission by 2030, increasing to 100% by 2035". Still as Jan 2024?

Reform have said they will scrap net zero and Conservatives they will scale it back, so likely ICE will still be about for far longer. The EU seem to be having second thoughts about it too, and of course America has scrapped the whole nonsense.

I wonder will the russians be pulling whats left of there tanks from the battle feild to convert to all electric. 😂
Putin is promising pollution free killing of the enemy in his next manifesto - 'Pollution-free Invasion and genocide for a [t]rouble free world' ... :ROFLMAO:

As far as I know, Euro7 will take account of pollution from tyre dust. At present there is no known way to make the grade.
But then again, I'm not convinced there is a viable way to get Euro6, considering all the adblue issues.

Many people are turning away from lecy cars and vans, but elon has just started to set up the alloy salt batter which will last 30 years and only loss 10% of charge, and can be charged in under 6 min to full or 3 mins to 80% , we shal see.

Sorry Trev, but I know quite a few people who own electric cars, and none of them would ever consider going back to an ice vehicle. Elon Musk is having problems selling his cars, but that’s got nothing to do with the cars, and everything to do with Elon Musk.

No, people are not generally "going off" EVs
; in fact, the vast majority of EV owners are satisfied and plan to buy another EV, though challenges like upfront cost and charging infrastructure are hindering wider adoption, particularly for private buyers in the UK. Global EV sales are still growing, and while there are issues with infrastructure and affordability, drivers who switch to electric vehicles rarely consider returning to petrol or diesel cars.
Why people are staying with EVs

  • High owner satisfaction:Studies show that a very high percentage of EV owners (around 92-94%) plan to purchase another EV as their next car.

Ours is a self charging hybrid, so a half way mark, we both like it when 'IT' decides to go full EV, love the noise and as we normally only go into town and as we live at 1000 feet it virtually runs for nothing, but I'm not yet convinced about a FULL EV car, certainly not a van, maybe if they could have a hydrogen fuel cell at a sensible refill price, that might work, but the batteries would kill it stone dead.

I am hoping that the threat of lost car sales will make the ICE engine remain viable, just with a different fuel, such as hydrogen for example.

Surprisingly Tesla's are still selling well in UK, with the model Y as 3rd best selling vehicle last month, and model 3 as 4th best seller, whilst BEV sales as a whole have risen once again no other BEV models made the top ten.
