Hi All
My habitation door lock cable has stretched.
Apart from main Rapido dealers, does anyone know of companies that can make cables to order?
Thanks

A good bike shop or an old mechanic might have the bowden cable and different nipples to fit , the AA used to carry a clutch/ throttle cable repair kit, ive long since used up all my bits 😭

Hi again.
I have just spotted on Amazon some z cable ends so as my cable has stretched around 12 mm, perhaps I can cut off the end shorten the cable and fit a new z end.
2 questions- Should I buy one that needs crimping on or one which secures with a grub screw?
What is the best way to cut the cable to avoid fraying?
Thanks

I'm not sure I would get crimp on ends unless I had access correct tool to crimp them, cable croppers 'squeeze' the strands together and make it easy to fit nipples, a quick google and I see Toolstation sell them, I bought some Draper ones for gf's birthday one year. :)

The AA ones were mostly grub screws for clutch cables one small ally crimp on for throttle and choke

Soldering the cable is the best way to enable cutting or, if possible, fit it, then cut the excess off after.

Hello again. So, if I buy these could I solder the cable in?
Would it be sucked up the fitting as in a plumbing pipe?
Or should I just crimp them?
Thanks

Wear and tear I guess. The van is now 8 yrs old but actually we don’t think that the bottom latch has ever secured properly.
I just think that if I shorten both cables by 15mm we should be back in business.

If you can get the inner adjusted enough that should do the job, any bend in the outer is irrelevant

I don’t think I can without shortening the inner.
That's what the bottom adjuster is for, to effectively shorten the cable. If there is a nut under the cable adjuster undo that then hold the top hex on the adjuster whilst tuning the nut next to it clockwise down the thread. this will shorten the cable. When done if there is a nut under the bracket tighten it back up to the bracket.
