New Arran ferry Glen Sannox out of service due to cracked hull

The ferry has a weld seam issue on its hull close to the waterline, CalMac has said.

They may well have to check every weld now, and this will take time. And if they find that the welding is sub standard god only knows what will happen to this £200 million 7 years late ferry. Then we have the Glen Rosa due to sail in September. Will they find issues with the welding on it.

Bill, with the fault being located at the hull, the should be a QA evidence trail to follow, such as negatives if welds were bombed (x-ray). So any signed off documentation relating to weld procedures will be checked. Hopefully this is not too serious, but as I mentioned in my OP, it’s embarrassing
