Ireland visit - yay!

Starting the process of booking ferry tickets.

I quite fancy travelling to Larne instead of Belfast, Stena Line from Cairnryan.

Don't know why, maybe because I imagine Larne is a quieter place to arrive and set off from?

Any recommendations or preferences from experienced Ireland moho travellers?🙏

At the moment I'm looking at being in Ireland for around a month - includes flexible return and refund just in case anything happens beforehand - price for me and camper is £324. Don't know if it's the cheapest ferry or route to Northern Ireland, but I reckon it'll do me (y) 🤷‍♀️

Agreed. There is a very nice harbour at Glenalm just to the north. More in due course.

Thanks Phil (y)

I'm looking to arrive a few days before I'm actually needed for the house sit, so flexible about which route and where to stop off on the way there.

Not in a rush to get there, especially as the distance to the house sit from Larne Ferry Port is 173 miles and would take approx 3 hrs 53 mins, according to Google maps.

Stranraer to Larne is a better route Ginge, and from your Gaff theres not much difference in the driving.

I'm not a big Belfast Fan myself but try to do the Silent Valley if you can.

Whatever you do don't stay in Larne

Larne's not such a bad place these days, but it used to be almost a no go area for some.

But theres a Harbour just up the road names after yorself my Lady and its a great stop over

About 10 minutes drive from Knock airport, Trev, south east of Cloongoonagh.
I would go down east coast to drogheda & turn right for newgrange/ boyne vally, then head west towards knock, through ballyshannon.

how long do you need to be house-sitting? and do you have to be physically at the house most of the time? just wondering as that area of Ireland is pretty bleak and boring. (would fly to Knock to go over to Co. Roscommon. not the nicest bit of the country :( )

Twice had a slight contretemp with ignorant twat in pub . He didn't behave very nicely towards an older member of our party . Long time ago .
Boris has obviously been much more recently than me . So ignore me
