Yes, but many tourists arrive straight from the beaches.
Nobody tells them it might be a little cooler up there.
Bless 'em.
This time of the year , you should bring warm clothes, just in case...... And a hipflask.
A friend of mine ( 'little kenny' RIP ), spent many years taking holidays on Tenerife, only once did he venture up Teide, him and his wife where taken up to base of Teide in a open top Vitara, they both 'froze' as they where only wearing light clothing.Yes, but many tourists arrive straight from the beaches.

We went up Olympus around easter time in a Vitara, as you say snow at the top, some people where sking, went down via a little used track, when we got back down to a flatter area nearly got taken out by a FV430 on exercises, we where escorted to a check point. You would think the snow on the top of it would be a clue. I remember us driving up Mount Olympus once in Cyprus in late March which is only half the height of Teide and it was sunbathing pool weather on the coast and we got out at the top and had a snowball fight.![]()
Now you know how Christine feels when living with Mt Wully when you let one go.but it reaks of sulphur like rotten eggs from the volcano.
I have the pics to prove, need to look them out of me shorts and a T, wait for it, jesus type sandals. I was a ruffie tuffie diver back then, when cold was something that was an inconvenience.long time back I remember driving up and I didn't really think it through and forgot to pack any warmer clothing ... getting a bit nippy as we got higher so turned around and headed back to the beach![]()
It’s 14c in Malaga right now 23c in Tenerife, and it’s far easier to fly from Scotland to Tenerife than Morocco. (If at all possible) We actually prefer Madeira, where we are going in March, but I have always wanted to go to the highest mountain here. So decided to do so for our 70th birthdays.I love tenerife and stay in Puerto de la Cruz. Far fewer tourists . I noticed several vans in the car parks but never managed to chat to anyone. I did wonder about the price of the ferry as I knew there were none from Morocco, which is strange. I am not sure I would bother going all that way when Spain and Morocco are more easily available ( for a European). Easier to fly and stay in a cheap hotel and pootle round on the bus.

Up until a few months ago my sister and brother in law owned a beautiful Villa in a prime spot overlooking the sea near Costa Adeje. It is truly stunning including large swimming pool etc. etc. and I was given the chance to go out there anytime I liked and planned to do so this year.
Sadly my brother in law now has serious health issues and they can no longer go there and so have sold it. They used to go at least 6 times a year and loved Tenerife and I was looking forward to spending some time out there with them. I'm not a Sun worshipper but having seen the pictures and heard all the stories I think I would have enjoyed it. Many of my friends often visit Tenerife so maybe one day I will make the trip.
I also went for my 70th, last year. I stayed in an old hotel in the old part of town. I had a week on my own then my family joined me for 4 days. I had a marvellous time and I am sure you will too. The capital city is very nice. I would just avoid Playa des Americas. It’s 14c in Malaga right now 23c in Tenerife, and it’s far easier to fly from Scotland to Tenerife than Morocco. Madeira is fine. Unless it's windy at the airport.. A white knuckle ride. It’s 14c in Malaga right now 23c in Tenerife, and it’s far easier to fly from Scotland to Tenerife than Morocco. Talking of which, you've got to try the basket sledge ride down the hill-top above Funchal..
If it's not been banned by the 'elf and Safety brigade.
In Lanzarote now but not doing any of the tourist sites this time, it’s hissing it down anyhoo.Dull one Bill, hopefully you can squeeze another visit with favourable weather for cable cars to run before you return home? The National Park is like a lunar landscape, and fascinating experience.
If you ever find yourselves visiting Lanzarote, Timanfaya National Park is a must too.
