Old Age After Full Timing

I used to drive a 7.5t Iveco Kev when I did part time vehicle recovery work in the 80's.

I loved driving it but the air brakes did take some getting used to. First time I tried them I nearly went through the bloody windscreen but soon got used to them. My dream when I had the garden furniture business was to have a 7.5t with a sleeper cab but it just wasn't practical for getting down tiny lanes in the middle of nowhere.
7.5t is just a van, as for lanes, try 41t in the back streets of Marrakech 😉

I'd rather not to be honest Kev.

But the flatbed 7.5 tonnes with sleeper cabs were considerably bigger than my Sprinter flatbed and definitely would not have got to some of the drops I had to make. It doesn't matter where in the world you are or what vehicle you are in, if it won't fit it simply won't fit!

I even failed to get to a drop in Surrey because the lane the house was on was narrower than the vehicle and the overhanging branches were lower than the vehicle. In fact, some parts of Surrey have lanes worse than Cornwall!

Is the general rule of thumb "if there are bus stops or bin lorries, you will generally be ok"?

Nice road for you Trev.
I'll even do you a favour and tow ya bus up for you. :p

PMSL! Thats just insane!! In a motorhome!! :D

Hats off though. Would love to do that on the scoot. I wonder what would have happened had you met a French person coming the other way. They dont have reverse apparently.

With a bit of luck you would meet an Italian coming the other way. 😊

Yes all your fault Rob, so for penance go to the pub and drink loads of bear, wont fix it but you sure will feel happy. 😂

So, get piste up for going off piste?

I've not decided anything yet, because current circumstances don't allow me to go full time anyway, and hopefully ending it will be some years off yet, possibly when the last of my dogs has passed away.

But I do like the idea of buying a cheap static to end my days in, assuming I can find a site that doesn't force upgrades. If not I suspect it'll be a bedsit somewhere.

What part of the world are you in Andy?
