Trustpilot Review Request

I got an email from them today, saying they had removed 6 reviews, which is a bit annoying as I know they were all genuine. And I can see that those reviewers, such as yourself, will be equally annoyed after spending time writing a review and having thrown back at them.

This is what Trustpilot say ...
"We’ve emailed each reviewer to let them know that their review has been removed, and we’ve asked them to get in touch with us if there’s been a mistake. If a reviewer disputes our decision and can document that they've had a valid experience, we can reinstate their review".
I wonder how many reviewers will spend more time collecting some kind of documentation that can validate their review when it could just get rejected again?

Geoff, I really appreciate the time taken for you to respond to Trustpilot and I hope your effort is not wasted for both of us, as it no doubt makes you (and anyone else with rejected reviews for any businesses) less inclined to bother again :(
I've received a reply to my message from "Trustpilot" in which they say that I must send them documentation. The salient portion is quoted below:

Your review was removed because we couldn’t verify its authenticity. However, if you send us documentation of your experience with wildebus.com, we’ll see if it’s enough to verify your review and get it back online.

Here’s what you can do:
1. Find your order confirmation, receipt or similar. It should ideally show: the name of the business, your name, the date, and a reference number (order ID, customer ID, etc.). See more on what we look for here.
2. Send your documentation as an attachment in a reply to this email.
Of course, there is no such documentation since (as I noted in my review) I haven't actually bought anything. If nothing else, this experience has reinforced that reviews are not everything. Yours is not the only business I've recommended to others based purely on pre-sales experience and customer care matters a whole lot more than slick sales IMO.

Weird, I only said he gave good advice, didn't mention forum.

"

The advice given by this company is brilliant

The advice given by this company is second to none and nothing seems to be too much trouble."
FWIW, notice that my review had been removed was received on Tue, 13 Sep 2022 21:20:36 +0000 following confirmation and initial publication on 10 Sep 2022 10:35:29 +0000 (UTC). i.e. my review was removed about two-and-a-half days after it was initially accepted.

If anyone would like to not have any reviews removed, it is also possible to send a Review directly to my website by visiting https://www.wildebus.com/contact/ and selecting "Testimonial" in the 'Topic' field. :)

Trustpilot had the advantage of being independant as I guess some people may see reviews and testimonials on someones own website as maybe not genuine but who knows!
Just a very frustrating occurance and clearly their algorithm for detecting false reviews is quite poor.

I just had mine published.

Happy to help David (y)
Thanks :)
your comment reminded me of when I worked at a major Computer manufacturer, dealing with major corporate clients. I would get questions from them and they would be quite surprised when I occasionally recommended rival manuafacturers products ahead of our own! Maybe that is why I am a poor businessman?

I always was - and still am -off the opinion that if someone else has something better suited for a job, that is what they should get. It also meant that these companies ended up calling me first for product info and advice whenever they needed something rather than our rivals and overall I reckon we had the best of it :)

It's now been removed

Thanks for writing a review about wildebus.com on Trustpilot.

As part of our efforts to ensure that our community can trust the reviews they read on Trustpilot, we’re constantly on the lookout for unusual activity. We do this by using customized software, dedicated Content Integrity Agents, or a combination of both.

In this case, your review of wildebus.com has been flagged because we couldn’t verify its authenticity, and on that basis we’ve removed your review from our platform.

While we’re confident that this is the right call, we appreciate that sometimes we get it wrong. If you think there’s been a mistake here, please do let us know by replying to this email and a member of our Content Integrity Team will review this decision with you.

I have appealed...watch this space :)

I have also received the same letter as above David. I have just replied to them with the message below.

I have known Wildebus for five years now. In that time he has installed batteries and solar panels within my Motorhome. He has freely given advice online and on the phone. I have booked wildebus to install new lithium batteries, solar panels, and a wifi system in my new Motorhome which I will be receiving spring next year.

Quite frankly I am appalled at the email you have sent to me accusing me of unusual activity. I am not in the habit of doing reviews, and I only did this one because I hold wildebus in high regard and would recommend them to anyone requiring such work to be done.

What you mean by unusual activity defeats me, there is nothing unusual in referring a trusted trades company when you have faith in them, and hold them in high regard. I thought that’s what your organisation was all about after all.

Similar here. My reply....

I am writing to appeal your decision.

David at Wildebus is a member of the same motorhome forum as I am and he recently provided me with some valuable advice regarding an electronic item that had broken in my motorhome. The item - a solar panel controller - needed to be replaced. He could have sold me one with cost in excess of £60 however he pointed me in the direction of another - cheaper - one on Amazon as I did not need the higher spec product that he sold.

I consider this to be a shining example of good old fashioned service. if I am unable to comment along these lines then what is the point?

If you are unable to post my review then I would be obliged if you could please close my account as I cannot be more honest than I have been so fear that my reviews would be worthless to you in the future.

There's more...

They now want proof of purchase/confirmation order/ invoice etc etc.

My reply below..

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

If you had read my reply you would see that I am unable to give you what you ask for as I did not pay for any product or service from Wildebus. The gentleman concerned provided me with free advice. Good, old fashioned, service.

Regards

Sorry David but it looks like it has run its course with me..the bunch of tossers! :)

I appreciate all your efforts to respond to Trustpilots unfounded rejections of reviews.

Supposedly one way they see reviews as automatically more 'genuine' is if you have their e-commerce plugin installed on your store so a review is linked to a purchase. Good in theory when the review is linked to a sale, but not so good when that plug-in so so poor it crashes your website! (See https://wordpress.org/plugins/trustpilot-reviews/ to see people's reviews of THEIR product). I did give it a go however - and yes, it crashed my site and I had to take it off line for a while to reinstate a backup. I didn't try the Trustpilot plug-in again! Should have trusted the plug-in reviews more :)

I think your problem may be having had the account quite a while reviews are suddenly coming in thick and fast and will be getting flaged up, rightly or wrongly.

They asked me for paperwork including invoices. I told them I don’t have any invoices, but if I did I would not be willing to give them any, as I regard what I paid as personal between me and the trader. Quite frankly this looks to have stemmed from what happened in March as I posted in post #35. You would think when people go to the trouble of replying to their emails that the penny would drop. I tend to agree with Fazerlos, possibly to many reviews in to short a period. But then I would have thought that any business would encourage existing customers to do what David has done. This is a real shame, because we all know on here just how helpful and knowledgeable David is, and we all replied in good faith to David’s request.

If they are serious about verification, all they have to do is come on here and take a look. But that would involve a human being actually taking part in this process, and that seems beyond their reach.

Then the problem would be such as post #15 who has had no dealings with Wildebus yet leaves a review thinking he is doing a favour, how many others are doing the same. We will never know. Trustpilot do have to try to protect their end or they have no business as no one will trust the reviews. It's A massive problem for such sites
