Hosepipe ban, and filling up a Motorhome

I`m out, then we don`t fall out.
Maybe I am seeing it too simplistically for you?

Basically, person A uses N Litres of water in a day. They still use that water, more or less, whether live in house X, house Y or house Z - so what difference does it make if they move?

I believe this may have a bearing on water use.

Davy

Even more dramatic when you look at it from the Industrial revolution. This is just England but you get the idea.

Ok, but i see a slight problem with that theory o_O

Will their old houses be staying empty and not using any water and will people that will move into them promise to not use any water

Houses don’t use water, people do.

We have a crazy system in Scotland were your water rates are integrated into your council tax, and they are based solely on your council tax band. And unlike England we have no right to a water meter.

So a family of six living in a band C house will pay half as much as a couple living in a band G.

What’s also creating the water shortages in England is there have been no new reservoirs built for over 40 years whilst the population has increased significantly.

Also it’s reckoned that 20% of England's water is lost through leaking pipes.

We have Kielder. It's pretty big.
Not sure what the water levels are like this year mind, but I know we ship water from there to other parts of the country.

Did I say 'we'? Sorry, I mean the Chinese owners. :)

Yes Marie I have been to Kielder Dam, I think it was the last reservoir to be built in England about 40 years ago. There is no shortage were we live in the west of Scotland, no surprise there eh. :)

The water companies have made Billions and failed to reinvest enough into your infrastructure. Also Scotlands population has not increased much in the past 40 years, Englands has significantly.

a mate who lived in that area picked up an unused plot of the requisitioned land for Carsington water in the peak district that was 1990 when it was scheduled to be opened but it got delayed after landslip caused a leak , so last reservoir in uk 30 years ago well behind the population surges we have ,

You can bet that the golf courses of south east England and other areas subject to hosepipe bans won't be irrigating their greens from water butts or watering cans for their fat cat members!

My phone is playing up, but from what I can make out population has increased by 8m in last twenty years. That's one of the reason we are building houses, and a driver for increased water use.

And the reason why the NHS is bursting at the seams.

Along with Nuclear Power Stations, certain areas of the UK require desalination plants dotted around.

Our water company,

It's been the driest start to the year since 1976, and you may be wondering how this will impact water resources and your water supply.

We wanted to let you know that it's unlikely we'll need to introduce any usage restrictions this year.

Wonder if we'll need to go down that route eventually?

I remember when living in Saudi years ago (Riyadh) they had massive pipelines transporting de-salinated water over 400 miles from the Persian Gulf to supply the city. We lived in an ex-pat compound with several swimming pools etc. Paid for with oil money. Other dry parts of the world aren't so lucky.

When I worked for an American Company in Jeddah we had our own Reverse Osmosis plant on one of the sites. The Americans used to buy bottled water ..... don't ask me why. :ROFLMAO:

A hosepipe ban is being brought in to Pembrokeshire and parts of Carmarthenshire. You know it's bad when Wales gets a ban!!

We live in Carmarthenshire, east of where the ban will be and all it does in blimming rain!
