Location App support thread

On my Samsung mobile,my location is spot on,on my windows 10 laptop it is about 10 miles out, I do not know how to correct it.

If you need the laptop to be accurate, a GPS dongle might be the way to go.

Your mobile will be using GPS to locate itself. Your laptop will be using an Internet point of presence which will not be accurate. There is no way to resolve this as your laptop will not have GPS.

Thanks Philip, that saves me trying to do something that cannot be done, no problem I can just drag the map to my location.

Laptops often use the location of wifi hotspots, which Google has a list of locations for. Often very accurate, but if it is a mi-fi which travels around, it can be very, very wrong.

the App seems to be working fine apart from the fact that there are no ratings or reviews showing for any of the locations selected (not even for those locations which I know have had reviews and remarks posted).

Could you give me an example, please?

The only review I've been able to find was posted on 15th August for Portsdown Hill2 - there are no ratings or reviews for any other locations I have looked at. Could it be that the ratings and reviews have not been carried over from the previous version of the Location App? And thanks for your help, Phil - as I said in my previous post, I'm a bit of a technophobe so any assistance is much appreciated.

Aha - that explains it. I think you've done a brilliant job getting this new app up and running. Apologies for my confusion and thanks for your clarification

Can I ask if you are using a phone with built in GPS and are you using cellular data?

Also is the device Apple or Android?

Morning Phil. PWA that is over my head I have no idea how to check this. All I know is I tap on the new app and places appear and little question marks in blue all work except locating/near me

So you have the app icon and you use that to open the app, you don’t use a browser like Safari or Chrome to open it?

Not at the moment but it is on the list for me to explore.

Apologies posted a thread in the POI section, then realised it probably better suited in here as an App issue...

Not sure if it’s been reported or not..... but when browsing locations and selecting an embedded standard google POI (golf course, historic site etc) the Provided link takes you correctly to google map location (opening up separate GM Window etc) but when returning to the WC App it is now frozen and requires you close the App and start again.
