Location App support thread

Yes. When I go on the location menu it's saying there's no PH locations. It's also saying no urban car parks and various other things also have no locations

I hope this is the right place to ask for help.
Trying to load the app to my new android phone. Using chrome. Following instructions goes fine until I click on 3 dots menu and there is no option to "Add to home screen" is available . Where have I gone wrong?
Ps I have been on Wild camping for years but have hit a brick wall this task.

pps Have no problem with it on my computer but cant load it onto the phone as a quick route to the app.

Still hoping someone may be able to shed light on my problem.
When loading the app on my computer there is a bar above the dark bar at the top which has the 3 dots on it. this works ok BUT when loading the app on my phone (using the instructions ) it does not have the extra bar at the top with the 3 dots so I can't fix the "W" symbol to access it directly.
Its a new phone ( android and Chrome) , it always worked well on my old phone. Can any one help please?

When I attempt this (I originally installed the app on my phone using Edge), I have no issues with my 5-year-old Android phone. Might be worth going to https://wildcamping.co.uk/tickets/categories/location-app-support.7/create and raising a support ticket, providing the maximum of information, including phone make and model, Android version, Chrome version... and a detailed description, perhaps with screenshots, which can be added as attachments.

Thanks TJBi. I have tried that and hope for some further help.

New user here. Samsung Galaxy s9 Android phone (result is the same on another phone so I don't think the phone is the problem)

Location app works fine, shows all POI as it should. If I click on one it brings up an information panel that gives me more details including the coordinates etc all fine so far. If I have finished looking at this, there is a little red cross at the top of the information panel to close it and return to the map exactly where it was. All good.

My "problem" is if I click on a review to read about it, that displays fine, but there is nothing that I have found to then close the review panel and return to the map. I have found swiping down on the review does close it and return to the map but not where I was, it returns to the map fully zoomed out showing the whole UK not where I was.

This is more of an irritation than a bug as such. Is this a know issue or am I being thick and missing an obvious way to close a review and return exactly where I was?

When I open a review, there is a little red cross in the top right-hand corner to close the review and return to the POI information panel (which you may have to scroll to find its top right-hand corner to close it). If that red cross is systematically not present, I would suggest raising a support ticket providing the maximum of information, including phone make and model, Android version, Chrome version... and a detailed description, definitely with a screenshot showing the Reviews panel (including the "Reviews" heading at the top, so that the lack of a red cross is proven. This can be added as an attachment to the support request.

I think you are correct. Comparing what I see viewing the location map on my computer, with what I see on my phone, it appears when I view a review, the "window" that it opens is too tall and the very top of that pane is hidden behind the "location app" banner at the top.

I can scroll the review window up and down, but not down far enough to see the red cross.

So is this an issue with my screen resolution? It looks more like a bug in the placement of the review window on the phone screen. Perhaps people that it works for have a very much larger screen on their phone?

That could well be the issue. Try this:

In a standard instance of Chrome (not the web app, which doesn't have the necessary options), tap on the three vertical dots in the top right-hand corner, select "Settings", scroll down to "Accessibility" and reduce the default zoom to 50%. Then try the web app. On the basis of what you see, you may want to select a different zoom level between 50% and 100%. A bit of a pain having to change it in order to use the web app and then probably change back afterwards, but might assist. Probably still worth raising a support ticket in due course, but perhaps regarding placement of the review window and inability to fully scroll it. I have a similar problem on an Android head unit with landscape screen, where the bottom of windows is inaccessible but have not yet raised a support ticket because I doubted that it's a sufficiently common problem to warrant investigation and correction, but your experience suggests that I'm not the only one.

Thanks. I tried opening the location map in a browser on the phone (chrome) rather than the app. and that works properly, I can see the red cross to close the reviews. It also gives me easy access to the zoom option which by default is 100%. If I zoom to 110% I can no longer see the red cross.

Perhaps I will just bookmark it from the browser and just run view it in the browser on the phone rather than the app?

Sounds like a reasonable workaround.

Here are some screenshots

Is there any downside to not using the app? More data usage? Won't work when no signal?
