Where does your dog sleep in your Motorhome?

Annie CLOUT !!!!!!!! Yes just like i did to the step-fathers yorkie ( it got a lot more than 1 ) when it bit my then 10 year old daughter :mad2:

She was sat on a chair quietly reading a book and the little mutt obviously wanted to sit on the same chair.

It jumped up and my daughter said no and tried to push the dog away so it bit her, we all saw it happen.

Just like it had bit my mum and step-father previously on several occasions when they tried to stop it doing something.

He tried to defend the mutt by saying if my daughter would have just moved the dog wouldn`t have got angry and bit.

Apparently the dog was only do what was natural and defending it`s own territory :scared:

After that whenever i went to the house the dog would run and hide in a corner until i`d gone, my daughter never went again.

When he died i gave his family 1 hour to collect the dog which i`d locked in the garage or it was going to the vets to be put down.

His eldest son collected the dog but it bit one of his children the next day so it went to the vets, end of.

Don't panic ! Haven't 'clouted' her yet in the 15 month I've had her and I reckon I never will.
 
No. Mine don't growl or bite. It's worse!! They just look cute and they know I don't have the heart to shift them. The up side is that when it's cold they pop under the covers and there you go, two hot water bottles that don't end up cold and nastie in the morning
 
We have a fixed bed in Percy with the world's thickest memory foam mattress on it so the dogs can't get up there. I have to use a little step stool to get in!
It is a pity, as a small dog weighing down the duvet keeps it snug & stops the draughts getting in.
 
we've just come back from a few days skiing staying on the aire at Super Besse in the Auvergne. lots of vans and dogs there all french bar us and I was surprised at how many had kitted out their garages for their dogs- most looked very warm and comfy.
couldnt see ours in that arrangement though! next trip hes in for some serious training OUT of our bed
 
We have two border collies they both sleep on the bed with us good job we have a big bed 6'6x6'6 :dog: :dog: :camper:

The subject of Dogs and what they do are (with some, not all) beyond criticism, and can do no wrong.

I daren't say anything about dogs, their training, behaviour or management, as last time I as daft enough to (without actually suggesting anything remotely unpleasant about or to the pooch in question) a couple of people went totally bleedin' hatstand and gave me grief :raofl:

The only thing I will say is that my lovely dogs (all now departed) were never allowed on seating or bedding (except their own), and were required (and trained) to behave (and growling at me or anyone else was never allowed).

There - I've said too much already :)!

It's psing down so what else is there to do but lie on the beds until it's pub time 😁 IMG_20150330_173101.jpg
 
I think the late Barbara Woodhouse was right.

It is OK for a dog to sleep on the bed when you say it is allowed. It is not OK when you say it isn't allowed. Simples.

We never allowed our previous dogs to sleep on the bed, Pepper was seriously mistreated and traumatised by his first owner, he was re-homed by the Rescue Centre 3 times and we were told we could not have him because 3 times is the limit, we knew the Dog Warden and told her we would not return him and would give him a family home for the rest of his life which was something he had never had, our Border Collie Lucky could open doors and for the first few weeks he was with us she opened the bedroom door and we woke up to him cuddling us, he still has problems after 7yrs but I will never stop him wanting to cuddle, what about the smell you might ask, he doesn't seem to mind:dog:

He's a medium sized dog, my bed is not an option for him, I'm not sure he will consider the single seats as a reasonable substitute for his sofa at home. He likes his dog bed, but there is very little floor space to accommodate it.

i bought a pop up tent and the dog sleeps in there,absolutely no room in toyota hiace for large collie
 
Many years back on the Damage Barton campsite at Mortehoe near Woolacombe we saw a guy that had built a kennel trailer for his dog.

It was similar to this Dog Kennel Trailer.jpg

He`d had a custom made waterproof cover made for it that would roll up for better ventilation and even had plastic windows in it.

The dog loved it and would go and lie down in there during the day as well as sleeping in it at night.

If the guy said to the dog " go to bed " it immediately ran over and jumped up into it.

It was without a doubt the happiest dog i`ve ever seen and extremely well behaved.
