What the most unusual thing

Oh Lenny can I have a gallon of what your on.......... or just a dram..... no really ,,,, come to my aid avandriver, these single cylinder Lister diesels were used in small fishing boats and canal boats. the large fly wheels I think means they had to be hand started with a cranking handle that could fly off or leave you out of breath....... as I am .......or am I digging yet a bigger hole. If you don,t believe me look up bollinder ( no Lenny not Bollinger) Or Lister Marine engines. you never know........the devils behind yer til he bites yer Bum.

No, I think it's more likely to be an engine to drive some industrial machine like a lathe or milling device, but I could be wrong, come on Avandriver, put us right.

hi lenny
talking about your local pub,
we used to go to a nightspot in north shields
in the early 1960's called the Jungle.
it was not far from the ferry.
is it still there?

Hey sundown i used to drink in the Jungle north shields it was near the ferry landing and they used to put sawdust on the floor to soak up the blood

thats right,
we used to try and speak like geordies
cos lister thumper was always on the lookout for jocks

Isn't the whole of the north east a jungle?????????;)

Some of you guys were very close .
It is a 1942 Lister D .
1.5 horsepower 350cc
mostly found on farms powering various machinery from milking machines to bale elevators
This one was originally part of a generator set

It was restored by me last summer

You can see more of this engine and others from my collection Here

One of the main reasons why I own motorhome is my hobby of restoring vintage machinery.

When I travelled all over the place to steam fairs and engine rallys I used to stay in a tent but my old bones are getting too stiff to sleep under canvas now
