I asked our Nephew, Humber Pilot, to recommend a reliable forecaster, who doesn't rely on seaweed,pine cones or goat entrails.
He uses :Wind Map - Britain Observations when bumping about on the briny. It helps to stop him bashing into the big expensive boats.

I like it.

Thanks bookmarked it, I use another one called NETWEATHER, it has a very good animation so you can tell how long before the wet hits your face:boat:

Humber Pilots do need to have an idea of the weather, take boating sailing whatever term to a different level ...Years ago I used to sea fish with one lad that was a Humber Pilot (Lawrie) who before the pilot malarkey had captained an Oil tanker that sailed out of Durban that big it had to discharge at sea. Richard the other miscreant had been a deep sea trawler man, the stories they told fascinating ..Lawrie was on a tate and lyle sugar boat early days the stories hilarious BP babies in the Caribbean ...Richards tales of Lollilegs a pissed up skipper on a trawler ,,,It was like the last of the summer wine but with fishing rods lol

I always used XCweather when I was scuba diving. Found it to be usually pretty accurate and at least it had regular updates.

I use the BBC app on my phone its free and works off your location but also have Windy: Wind map & weather forecast (also known as Windyty) this book marked

windfinder.com

a excellent site for sailors and pilots that i use is
Windy: Wind map & weather forecast (also known as Windyty)

you can overlay any parameters you like on the map then run through the time of day you need and up to a week ahead,

i have just checked the weather were i am at the moment, so expecting 25C and clear sky’s :lol-053:

XCweather

The link takes you through to xcweather which has a very good forecast section giving wind strength and the amount of rain .

Used it for work to predict high winds.

Its detailed enough to give different forecasts for places close together but in different valleys or other side of a hill
