We like to play cards in the van

I enjoy using Microsoft Solitaire and Casual Games. It was originally Xbox but can be played on W10 on a laptop. There are various levels for all the card games and daily competitions (with worldwide competitors). I do it to stop the little grey cells turning to mush.

We have a set (55 tiles) of 9 spot dominos which is the standard in Cuba.

The only other place I've played 9 spot was a pub in Lymm, Cheshire.
Every year the was a knockout competition for the title of "Domino Professional".
The current "pro" was not allowed to enter.

For the rest of the year, to play the "Pro" had to buy him (a Lady never won whilst I lived there) a pint.
If you won he had to buy you a pint back and could not play any more that evening.
The secret was to get to play him when he was just drunk enough to make mistake, and you were sober enough to take advantage.

A great tradition.
I've got a set of double 9s that belonged to my grandad so they must at least 75 years old.

Worra boring lot you lot are! What's wrong with a good old game of "naked Twister"? Preferably played with a load of young hotties in VW campers you just met on an Aire or wild camping spot. Granted, its not always that easy to find participants but have some ambition F F S! :D

Neil's a total board and card game nutcase. 🧐

He's also a first class bloomin' sneaky cheat and a mighty sore loser who conveniently changes the rules as you go along!! 😜 🙄😈🤣🤣🤣

The home office space I vacated (long before I actually retired, tbh ;) ) has been filled with all manner of board and card games, including some he has designed himself.

In fact, I do believe there was a postal delivery of some kind of printer card just this morning...:LOL:🤷‍♀️

Got addicted a bit back in the 80s when a bunch of us used to play that nearly every weekend for a while.

I remember playing games of Risk back-to-back through the night 'til the early hours after we came back from the pub... 😵‍💫🥴🥱😴

Me? Competitive? Naaah... 😜;)😁
You must have been about 10 back then. ;)

I used to play Bridge in school but can't remember how these days.
I used to play "Black Maria" at school, but the only card game the school permitted was Bridge, so in the end we got fed up pretended we were playing Bridge and just actually played the game instead :)
Funnily enough it was enjoyable and the four of us (for anyone not aware, it is a game where two play as partners against another pair of players) got quite good and started playing at tournaments and against other schools and had funding to travel to the other schools for competitions. I managed to persuade the school that it was a legitimate sport so when there was the mandatory 1 hour PE class per week, we played Bridge instead :D

Bridge is the only 'Sport' that I have represented my school at (not built for Rugby, Cricket is too boring, Football was 'beneath' my Schools aspirations) and the only thing I have got a little trophy for after winning the Three Counties (Berks, Bucks and Herts) Junior Championship.
Most people played ACOL, but the Blue Club convention was becoming popular. I created a unique "ABC" (Acol Blue Club) convention that flummoxed the opposition (all written down if anyone wanted to check it was real) :D

But probably like Sydwal, not played for decades - I think for me maybe my last game of Bridge was 45+ years ago?

We've also played some decent not-so-standard card games. UNO is easy and fun, Cards Against Humanity is great - but I think being hammered is a prerequisite. 🍾🍸🍹🍷🍻 The filthy words that my mother in law came out with on that one - I was traumatised I tell you. Exploding Kittens and Muffin Time are both hilarious.
Got Exploding Kittens. Maybe like you say, you need to be hammered? I found that game just totally unentertaining :(

There is a fairly decent PC version of RISK. Not sure if it is ok with later versions of Windows though? Seems to be a problem with many of the Windows based games from the past.

"Diplomacy" is another good game that is also available on the PC (same compatibility issues as RISK maybe?).
I love Board Games, but finding players is my problem.

Recent Card Game I am enoying but not very good at is "Up or Down" - https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/428058/up-or-down
Quite addictive and trying to get better at it! Play it at 'Board Game Arena' but my win rate is only around 33% :(

Due to Liz's arthritis and my dodgy fingers, I ordered this for the trip next week, it arrived this morning.
And it deals really well no matter which option it deals it perfectly, but it doesn't shuffle so back it goes.

So I looked at this one from AliExpress, which has a video showing it working. Why don't they all do that? It saves a lot of messing about, sadly it won't arrive until next week when we're away, a neighbour will take it in for us.

Here is a video of the Amazon one ....

Peeps do knock AliExpress, but I can't recall anything being crap, and even then I always use PayPal for online purchases, and they have never let me down.

Flip 7: New fun game for groups:

Also, an old one called Liar’s Dice - or Pirate Dice (was featured in 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean film)
All you need is 5 dice each.

Only the two of us, and the card number is usually 7 or 13, so deal once for 7, twice for 13 and put a card back in the stack.

13 is for crash.
