I just had a look and it seems a bit short of anywhere nice to stay the night, ferry leaves at 9am so need to be there 8am and I don't want to get stuck in rush hour traffic so would like to go the night before.

I’ve stayed on the marina a few times, city centre so not cheap but there’s a bar and restaurant so I enjoyed it and thought it good value

Yes there’s a marina right in the city ,it was £25 a night but you book online ONLY to avoid a fine, easy to do and it’s a short walk to some nice places ,

I’d suggest checking with P&O but the terminal USED TO BE OPEN 24/7 and you could just park outside and use the facilities.

It’s been 3-4 years since I last used this route so again call and check

The nearest place that looks viable is 40 miles away near Altrincham so I've put it into organic maps but hopefully, there is somewhere a bit closer scrote free, I'm okay first thing but grumpy laying next to me doesn't do mornings.

If you go down to where the kings docks are then keeping the docks/ Mersey on your right after about a half mile you will see a small industrial area, you will be able to find a nice quiet out of the way place there.
It isn’t a busy estate even during the day

We have stayed on a few IEs over the years when we've been stuck for finding somewhere nice, I just showed Liz that place on Google maps and it looks a bit grim.

this isn't too far away and looks a bit more open

A line from the series 'The Lovers' around 1972

Geoffrey: 'Where's your mother, dressmaking again?'
Beryl: 'No, Altrincham ...'
Geoffrey: 'Why, was wrong with them?' :ROFLMAO:

A decision has been made.

We're going to go over to Chester the day before as we like the town and we'll overnight there and then go up to Wallasey and through the tunnel as Liz hasn't been under the Mersey before.

Sorted.
