Un marked Camera vans

Gosh I'm in awe!

I firmly believe that everybody speeds at sometime or other, even if only by a couple of mph.
Did I say at ANY point I had never been guilty of speeding ...

NOPE

However on the two occasions I've committed a speeding offence over the last 25 years

(bearing in mind I drive close to 250 miles a day for work 48 weeks a year PLUS the miles I drive in the motorhome )

And BOTH times were on National speed limit roads ...

And

BOTH were purely MY own fault due to lapses of concentration ...

I'm happy to say that there ARE no excuses for speeding .
And I took responsibility for those lapses and didn't try to complain about speed enforcement .

where i live i have to pull out into the beginning of a dual c/way where cars coming out of bristol can finally see a chance to put their foot down . on a long stretch with no cameras . if i didn't break the speed limit i'd never get out . and nobody's going to let me out , it's too dangerous .
but i do like to remember the times traffic lights have stopped working , and the cars managed to work it out without problems . here's a junction with no rules ,my favourite kind of driving !

I think you are missing the point I am trying to make.

Yes these features are all available with a few clicks, but what I am saying is that they could take the choice away from the driver in the name of road safety if they really wanted to. But then they would earn less cash through fines.
Talking about adding features and paying the price for it. Information has leaked out that the performance of American F-35 Jets sold to foreign customers can be remotely affected by Lockheed Martin (the manufacturer) if they deem it necessary. Guess which American aircraft maker is now looking at losing orders, costing them billions of dollars.

No you didn't. But you did somewhat take the moral high ground with your responses such as;

"There is an incredibly easy way to not help them generate money ..

It involves your right foot ;-)"

I believe that it is impossible not to have lapses in concentration when driving, I have even been known not to notice the alarm on my GPS when I have had something on my mind. I used to do similar mileages to yourself when I ran my company and I'm sure that sometimes I was on autopilot.

I try not to speed, I like having a license and I like paying less insurance. What I complain about is inappropriate speed limits which I believe are set up to generate cash and nothing to do with safety.

Thats so if used against the usa they will switch them of, alwatys thought it daft to sell armaments to third parties, 39 to 45 the spitfire/ p51 mustang springs to mind.

I haven't got ANY moral high ground to take ....

However I DO take responsibility for my own lack of attention at times and not blame others for catching me when I lapse ....

We ARE all human ...and to Err is indeed human .

Sorry, but just the way it came across.

I also take responsibility for my own actions, I have no choice but to! :)

A bit like Selective Availabilty for GPS years ago Trev. The US Government could turn it off so that it couldn't be used against them for targeting missiles.

No probs

Same here ....

The Speed awareness course WAS informative though ...
And to be honest I took a good few bits of useful information away that hopefully improved my driving

You know what's going to happen in the next few days Mark...
It did cross my mind while writing the post. :ROFLMAO:

I'll only be driving about 10 miles tomorrow, all in town and I religiously set the speed limiter, so I took the chance of taking the moral high ground.:D

Intend on being too hangover to drive the rest of the weekend😂

Im told they cannot snap m bikes as the no plate is on the back, many lads here have there pillion put there feet upm over the plate just incase.

Apparently they can if they have a two way camera out the back / front. I thought I was done for back end of last year (always the A66) coming back from Cumbria one late afternoon. Virtually nothing on the duel carriageway and I came over the top of Stainmore which is basically a flipping big mountain that separates east and west on the Pennines. I saw the camera van as I came over the top and he must have got me but I never heard anything so obviously just a forward facing one. I was doing north of a ton.
