I blooming well hope that never happens in my lifetime. Can you imagine the situation? You pull out on the bike to overtake someone doing 55 in a 60 and they decide to do that thing some like to do where they put their foot down which is no problem on a powerful bike as you blip the throttle and your past in an instant unless the computer says no and cuts you off. Sometimes its safer to quickly break the speed limit on an overtake as you get past quicker. Certainly the case on a bike as its very easy to increase by say 20 mph and equally as easy to wind that speed off.
If you change down gears to keep the limit then you are poluting the air more which in turn kills more people slowly over time, its a no win situation.Naive or not ....
It's the drivers responsibility to adhere to the limits and to observe where the limits apply .
Whether the limits are sensible or not is a whole other discussion ...
BUT overall it's STILL down to the driver .
There's a whole heap of modern vehicles that are capable of constantly transmitting data to the manufacturer etc ...
Including automatically alerting emergency services in the event of a crash/breakdown etc ....
Sat nav systems built in etc etc ....
The tech is already out there just a few key clicks to activate ;-)
I bet you will be getting cct footage from the garage, good move.I didn't actually mean vehicles reporting, I meant sensors in cars physically restricting a car to stay within the speed limit then there would be no need to fine anybody for speeding.
But priorities regarding safe driving are just plain wrong sometimes. My granddaughters car was hit in a service station a while back (I posted about it at the time). The driver was clearly under the influence of drink/drugs and got very aggressive, she had to be rescued by a passer by. She 'phoned the police at the time but they said it didn't warrant sending anybody out - so that driver was not prevented from driving off and possibly killing somebody which is disgraceful.
As an aside, she has heard from her insurance company today and they are refusing to pay out the £12000 repair bill as they don't believe that the damage could have all been caused by such an accident even though it definitely was. However, for reasons I cannot disclose (yet) this is going to cost the insurance company very dearly!![]()
My Honda NC750 had a rev limiter Barry which I hated and it would do exactly that, it was like hitting a brick wall mid overtake. However, the safety campaigners would say that you should plan your overtakes more carefully.
I'm sort of playing Devil's advocate here just to demonstrate that the powers that be don't really give a flying one about your safety, they are more interested in cash. I would never want to see such measures introduced.

Yeah I knew where you were coming from Rob. Isn't that when you went from the rev limited sensible NC750 to the Suzuki Rocket ship super bike?![]()
I'm not missing the point ....I think you are missing the point I am trying to make.
Yes these features are all available with a few clicks, but what I am saying is that they could take the choice away from the driver in the name of road safety if they really wanted to. But then they would earn less cash through fines.
The "they won't do it because they make money off speeding fines "
Is to be honest a bit social media "fact" IMHO .
Not a problem...I'll agree to disagree on that one!

Auto or manule makes no differance, slow speed more rpm meens more polution as driving a longer time from a to b.What gears Trev?
Naw, they've got Brownie 126 cameras for those zones ... Except where the local councillor has a relative who is a portrait painter ...If you are not breaking the law, nothing to worry about.
Having said that, I hope they're not in the Welsh 20mph zones.
Not a problem...
I'll just continue to keep driving and paying attention to speed limits etc ...and adjust my right foot to suit .
You are allowed 1 mph over the limit and 9 for a course, over that and its points or court and maybe loss of licence.Gosh I'm in awe!
I firmly believe that everybody speeds at sometime or other, even if only by a couple of mph.
I think Spain allows a 20kph excess of the speed limit to complete an overtaking manoeuvreI blooming well hope that never happens in my lifetime. Can you imagine the situation?
