UK stickers abroad

So the registration number of the vehicle doesn't tell them where you're from ?
I disagree
If that's ok ?

Of course it is OK.

Little quiz ... name the country

but I'm sure the relevant authorities will have that information on their computers .
Bit mad if you have country ID but no information about registration

I've been retired for well over 10 years, but when I was with the force we used the International vehicle registration code (i.e GB etc).

Could well be different these days. Difficult to know where to start with something like the "MLX 428".

My point is virtually all information is recorded nowadays .
Of course , on a personal level , I'm still peed off at being fined €40 .
Totally disproportionate for , imo , a nothing offence

And so we must differ.
I agree that the reg plate will be recorded in the country of ownership.
So, assuming there is a data sharing protocol with that country, the owner can be traced.

However, there is no single world or european registration plate data depository.

This means a non UK resident committing crime in the UK can significantly reduce his/her traceability by removing the country code from a vehicle.

This explains why not displaying a country code is an offence.

Our motorhome is correctly plated and stickered including an extra UK sticker for Spain even though we have UK plates with the Union Flag on them in readiness for our jaunt to annoy Johnny Foreigner o_O

Along with the Angles Mortes stickers that are correctly positioned ( they were measured ) :)

I hate and detest all the stickers but if that what it takes for not being bothered / quiet life then so be it.

Same situation as when the Crit'Air stickers came in several years back.

I remember one particular roadside checkpoint down near Lourdes were the Gendarme was in the process of pulling us in when he saw the Crit'Air sticker, pointed at it, gave us the thumbs up and and a smile then waved us past at which point i waved back and we enjoyed the rest of the day

Totally agree . When I bought the van I pointed out to the dealer he hadn't put a GB sticker on . He said it hadn't occurred to him !
Small company near Birmingham think they had a place in Stoke as well . They were actually very good and I thought I'd sort it myself .
Of course forgot all about it until , just outside Badajoz , the local polis reminded me .
The fact I think the law is nonsense means nothing , especially to the police .

Re crit air sticker. We have a 2010 Autotrail Mohawk. Some years ago on uk plates applied for sticker and got cat 5. Recently put on Spanish plates so reapplied for new sticker and got cat 3. Not sure if I am better or worse off but at least trying to comply. Sorry if this is hijacking thread!

No worries, they all play a part and someone else might learn from it

You should have got a Cat 3 first time, no idea why you didn`t.

I through no fault of my own or any deceipt on my part got a better one ( 3 ) than i was expecting ( 4 ) because they went on the year it was first registered.

I sent a copy of my V5C which was all they asked for.

I live in N. Ireland. Our registration numbers are unlike anything in GB. Generally our reg plates do not carry a designated blue tab with GB as this would ‘offend’ a large percentage of the population. Since we are not part of GB, I have never put a sticker bearing that legend on my van. I put NI stickers on the back which confuses the Dutch who seemingly cannot tell an L from an I. This is further complicated by our carrying Irish passports (with UK backups), so I have and IRL sticker on the back beside the NI one.
Now that we appear to be part of the United Kingdom of GB and NI, I finally put a UK stick on the back last year. The authorities can make of all that what they will.
