Tyrepal Solar 6

I have this two year old Tyrepal Solar 6 system if anyone is interested.

I'll put new cells in the sensors and the only bits that are missing is the rubber dust protectors, about £0.50 for four from Tyrepal.

This was bought during the first Covid lockdown but I never got to grips with it.

I wouldn't be without mine either, I have Tyrepal on the van but cheaper versions on the cars and even the trailer, Tyrepal is far superior, if I didn't already have one I would snatch his hand off at that price

I reckon it’s money well spent. When ordering the new van I avoided Fiats TPMS system due to lack of flexibility. The tyrepal system allows you to use the pressures you wish, to suit your load and tyres. Why you are selling this eludes me, unless you have another system. Like Tezza, I would buy it if I did not already have one. I would seriously rethink selling this great bit of kit.

Was it an option you could deselect? I thought from a certain date (which was quite a few years ago now) the provision of it was mandatory? maybe only on Cars and not Commercial based vehicles?
I am not familiar with the Fiat TPMS system, but very few OEM systems are close to the features and flexibility of most aftermarket add-on systems, so I can understand why you might want a different one to the Fiat.

The Fiesta has a VERY basic system on it, just tells you you have low pressure, not how much or which one.

I'd fit some onto the van but think I'd like to spend less, not looked yet.

Which ones do you have Tezza?

You can get 6-wheel TPMS systems. I had one on my Dually VW LT.

That's surprising. Ford are usually quite good for innovations like that I thought? I think the BMW one is (or at least used to be. maybe improved now?) the worst.
My Corsa TPMS is not as good as aftermarket ones but for an standard fit is remarkably good - get pressure info for all 4 tyres and while you can't programme your own pressures in, you can select from a range of different modes for the most appropriate ones (so if you used the back seats for passengers a lot, you might have the rears higher pressure and select the "4 people & luggage" mode to reflect that.)

As you say they have been mandatory on cars for around 10 years David, but for some reason not on commercial vehicles. I read an article on MMM a while back and the system supplied by Fiat was set to 65psi. My car has a system, and it’s flexible but apparently not the Fiat system, which is prone to issues. I had to take a pack which included keyless go to get TPMS, I decided not to bother.
On the subject of Tyrepal, I did have to replace a sensor last month. But I have had it for four years now. I got a new sensor from the C&MC for £23. I now carry a spare. To my way of thinking driving without TPMS is like driving blind.

Never had need of them TBH, driven commercially so long it's second nature to always walk around the car or van and do a visual, if it's a bit suss on one I'll give it a kick if still suss I go check the pressure, but I would buy a cheap set for the van but they seem to be limited to only 3.5 bar.

I check my tyres also pudsey, but I have twice picked up nails whilst driving my car that led to my TPMS warning me before I damaged the tyre, or even worse.

well ....
1) kicking the tyre - or even actually checking the pressures - before you depart does not help in the slightest to tell you you have picked up a puncture after you started the journey. What you learn from doing that goes out the window the second you drive off.
2) the Fiesta system is very basic (better than none still) and ANY aftermarket system is a lot more useful. Best not judge a technology on a poor example.

Jut a matter of choosing the right system that supports over 3.5bar/60psi. Really is that easy.


I think I said on another thread about brakes that the TPMS system helped me find a sticky caliper as it told me about one tyre getting warmer than the rest. not saying would not have found it without TPMS, but the system led me right to the wheel with an issue and saved time and hassle.

The Tyrepal system also monitors tyre temperature. This is surprisingly useful.

If you have a binding brake or a faulty wheel bearing the tyre temperature will increase so these conditions can be detected earlier.

I suspect your Fiesta has the most basic option. There are no sensors within the wheels. Low tyre pressure is detected by the ABS sensor which determines that one wheel is rotating at a different speed from the others because its circumference has changed. That also explains why the wheel in question is not identified.

Well, I reckon it's mainly because I've never got to grips with it. I bought it with all good intentions but never did set it up properly. Just ordered some new batteries for the sensors and all this talk of possibly finding brake and bearing problems is giving me second thoughts...

Honestly winks its a doddle to set up, each sensor is already registered to the control panel, and each wheel marked on the sensor.
It's a shame you lost the rubber covers, they offer extra protection to the sensors.
But they should be fine without them.

I'm going to read the destructions again and see if I don't glaze over this time. The four sensors are labelled RF,RR1 and LF,LR1 but the other two aren't marked up. You've set little devil doubt loose and no mistake.
