my T.v is languishing and probably fooked having been kept in a damp and dingy storage in Doncaster.

I dont personally have the desire to watch TV, but thats not to say others do like their home entertainment when away.

Fact is we all have slightly different agendas?

One mans food is anothers poison and all that crap?

Or wifes as the case maybe !!!

we use a small 10" LCD laptop style DVD/TV player which uses a fraction of the power of a 19" normal tele. .

I'm looking for similar Barry, Ours came with a rather nice 12 inch tube which kills the battery in no time. I have this cheep n cheerful offering in mind.
Nextbase SDV1102 10" Portable Freeview TV + DVD Player on eBay (end time 01-Nov-09 19:00:08 GMT)

Anyone got any advise on this, I don;t want anything top of the range but I do want something that will play Divx and does not use much battery.

To be honest I dont think the one I have has any markings on it. I bought it years ago off ebay from China. Took a bit of a risk. It was about £150 and has a dvd, analogue TV and plays 80's style video games! It was a good three years before similar models started appearing in the uk. I just got my elecy guy to nock up an auxilary adaptor for the red white and blue leads from the Max view box and there you go! I had one of those 17" 12v flat screen jobs from the local camping shop and it really used loads of power. I reckon any of these flip top DVD players would do and probably use the same sort of power as long as it has an auxilary input socket you should be able to plug a satelite receiver or freeview box into it.

TV on Dark Nights

WE bought the Meos 12inch tv from we do didgital It has a built in dvd and its own battery that rund for 2-3 hrs, we have bought the Avtex digital ariel that rund off our 12v we can watch the TV almost anywhere. Not for Strictly but for the F1 pleased it was the last race today as we might get our weekend back now

Yep that would be the modern day equivelent I guess and it has its own battery so if you wanted to be really stingy on the power you could run it for a while on that and when it runs out switch it over to the 12v in the van. I know a lot of people go for 19" tv's and even 22" in the vans but IMO you dont need them. We have a 19" 240 tv that we use on the rare occasion we have hookup and it feels massive whenever we use it!

any night you fail to get tv reception you can amuse yourself & the good lady in other ways use your imiganition & it should come to you. remember the nights of long long ago when boys were men & girls became mothers.
failing that there is no hope for you.

3 minutes that is more plausible...!!!

And before anyone is wondering, I have reached the stage where the only time I feel like doing it twice is just before I've done it once ;)

I know what you refer too re the Missus Arthur...With my Ex I had to tie a pork chop around her neck so that the dog would play with her!!!

I will reluctantly reply to that common criminal AJS ( I go away for the weekend and look at the trouble he gets into)

AJ, what you could once do all night, now takes you all night to do. And only once a year. Give my regards to your wife. Lovely woman, she never lets me leave without a good breakfast inside me (typical golf widow). :D

On the subject of TV reception, we have just spent 2 days on site in a howling gale and torrential rain. My modified camera tripod (£8.30 from Lidl) performed admirably with my (free) Sky dish attached and connected to my (£15) Sky digibox. Granted, I needed 4 pegs and 2 bungees to hold it down but everybody else lost their TV reception for one reason or another.

We were rocked to sleep in a 4.5 tonne crib. :)
