Towbars.

That's my point. Why would anyone fit a towbar unless they were going to tow something.

It provides protection to the rear of my motorhome in the event of grounding, and a couple of times whilst reversing the towbar has hit something rather than the difficult to repair glassfibre lower body moulding.

Any motorhome that I own in the future will have a towbar fitted.

Unless someone has mentioned it check out the vids on YouTube. You will see various towbars being fitted by Towbar companies and even some making them to order. It is usually a drop plate either side fitted to the chassis then extender tubes to rear where cross bar connects both sides. Finally Towball mount in middle.

Agree with that - that's why I got a full width steel bar and a nice stainless steel cover fitted as well as the tow ball. Will def give protection to the rear of the van across its entire width. Luckily I haven't had to test its strength yet but it is very solid.
