Thanks. The one we have booked is about 20 miles east of there. If you want a basic CS there's one we've stayed at in Colyton for £7. Treat yourself to a ride on the replica trams from there to the coast at Seaton!
The North Stoke CL to Brighton is about 25 miles. You can also get there by train from Amberley Station which is less than a mile away but it does involve at least one change.Great info folks many thanks. Dorset and the downs are doing well so will spend a fair chunk of time there I think. Got a week booked near Lyme Regis from the 13th and will maybe try the CL at Stoke / Arundel or something in that area. Generally out on the bike 30-40 miles in either direction is about the max we will do but it's nice to have stuff on the doorstep also. Those two stops should cover most of it over two or three weeks. Then I guess we will move on toward Brighton etc.

If you like taking pictures Dungeness at twilight with the dark silhouettes of old ships use to be atmospheric. When I worked that patch back in the 80's some of those now half a mill shacks used to house familys with numerous children.Long time decades and decades, since I explored south coast. 2 things stuck in my mind. Rye (twee but charming) and Romney Marsh /Dungeness.
Might be worth lookin along the road to Rye and Camber. Before Covid we stayed on one in a field on the sharp corner. Run by 2 ladies you can see Camber castle from it. That road also has some wetland wildlife on it.Nah!! 25 miles is no bother on the bike. We often clock up over 100 miles in a day. It's nice to find places that have easy access to walks though for Michelle and maybe a beach or a places interest but I'd always prefer an off the beaten track off grid CL for one that's busy with all the facilities in a hot spot. Especially this time of year. All the CLs we have used so far since June we have had no bother getting on.
That's interesting thanks, so to access those sites you need to be a member of the Camping and Caravaning Club ? This one https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/ ??C&mc certified locations. There's still a few that have not gone all singing and dancing with ehu, showers and manicured lawns. Usually farmers fields in remote places down a goat track where your wing mirrors end up nicely decorated in foliage.
They suit us as they are not that popular, in theory they should only ever have five vans on max, usually tons of space and we don't move the van as we use the bike. It's a bit like wild camping without the hassle.

if you are near to Lyme Regis then pop into West Bay (Sundays are best as all the local bikers meet up in the harbour)
cracking fish n chips at the No 8 kiosk (absolutely massive portions and they do a fantastic indian-style curry sauce) we figured out that all you need to order is one fish n chips and one fish for two persons (otherwise you will end up throwing away a load of chips as there are too many)
we were there for a week recently and View attachment 122215stayed at the (dare I say it on here) Parkdean resort
Don’t knock parkdean resorts they are great out of season and as cheap as chips we used to pay £6 including EHU out of season at Walton on the Naze.if you are near to Lyme Regis then pop into West Bay (Sundays are best as all the local bikers meet up in the harbour)

Worth a look on the websites. Will keep that in mind when we eventually get a hundred miles of so along the coast by October and there is not enough Solar.
Actually joking apart I wonder if these deals will be a thing of the past given the price of electricity now. Haven I think so similar up north. Or did.
Cheers. Will bear it in mind. You could always visit us on the way by. Deals can be done! https://www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/South_East/Hampshire/Stockbridge/stockbridge-view/
West bay nr Lyme Regis is nice. Think you can overnight in car park, charged.Dilemma time. Currently in South Devon probably for another week or so just outside Salcombe and we love it here. The next stop was going to be near Lyme Regis in West Dorset for a week at a CL we went to last year. From there we were going to slowly head east all along the south coast probably into the Autumn and as far as Kent. We have done bits of it many years ago but the Dilemma at the moment is whether we should bin all that and head west into Cornwall and then back up through North Devon but we did all that last year so maybe we should be seeing some "new".
Michelle likes to walk, especially coastal walks and I just like to fly about on the scooter, have a swim (when and if it ever gets warm enough) and just take in the scenery. We prefer small coastal villages to large towns or cities. So what would be your top places to see between Dorset and Kent, inland as well as coastal? Where is ideal for walking and biking and great scenery (Coastal and inland)?
