This years Epic Summer trip

Hopefully the storm will clear the air up there? Reading 38c at the mo, punishing heat, so hot Bea’s iPhone fried from the inside out, I periodically stick my m phone in the fridge, and I kid you not.

New lock arrived today and installed, can now lock camper door, now to plan the escape north to the tunnel, but with this heat, maybe stay here till the heat bomb breaks. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

Yes it did. It wasn't that hot though really to start with. Well about 30c I think. We went out on the bike after the storm up into the forest and another little mountain lake and it actually felt cold on the bike in just T shirts. About 25c then I think. Its warmed up a bit again now and wall to wall sunshine. Elevation is key of course and its about 2500ft above sea level here rising to about 4000ft behind us.

Get this though, the forecast for Monday where we are heading in Jura is just a max of 16c with a low of 10c.

I’d be giving Jura area a big swerve, you can get those temps by staying at home 😲

Nah! Its fantastic and 30c tomorrow there, cooling a bit later on in the week and by Sunday or Monday we will move on, probably to Annecy.
I was chatting not long ago to my mate who lives in Dunbar, I’m dripping like a garden water feature, he went inside because he was cold 😂

Chalk and cheese with the weather.

Moving on to Jura this morning and one of our favourite wild spots from many years ago. 152 miles south of here. Its been a great week here apart from the hassle I had over the last couple of days with some tech issues back home. Still not resolved. It sounds like we survived the heat wave better than some and were definitely in the right place.

Last few pics from yesterday. Little Lake Retournemer just up the road from here.

Arrived at Eagles Peak in Jura. Its an old favourite wild spot and we have not been here for 8 years. Whenever I get within 10 miles of where I'm heading I always get that feeling of anticipation. "What if we can't get on?, what if they have banned motorhomes? What if Motorhome Kev and a load of Gypsies have take it over?" I needn't have worried, apart from a few cars who will be walkers off doing the Peak we are the only van here! In fact as we drove down the lake below just now which is stunning I wondered if everyone knew something we didn't as its deserted! Roads are eerily quiet. I guarantee though that when the cars have gone some French motorhomer will trundle in and park right next to us. :D

Sunny and hot all the way down (Well according to the temperature read out) but its fab having a van with air con. :D Peaked at 34 lower down but I think its about 29c here (3000ft).

Looks like we are just in time for another Thunderstorm.

No photos or vids yet as I haven't left the van yet so here's one I prepared earlier.

Talk about weird weather. After the thunder and rain passed we went "down" to our nearest town about five miles away and a lower altitude. I had to stop and put a fleece on. It was actually cold. Under 20c anyway. The Super U was actually warmer than outside.

Twenty minutes later back at the van and now down at lac de Bonlieu it's 29c again. All in the space of about 8 miles apart.

Bloody lovely at the little lake this afternoon. Even in August which was when that video was taken in 2017 it wasn't busy but today we had it to ourselves apart from two dog walkers. Water was fabulous. Great swimming. Michelle is off up Mont Blanc or summat right now so will no doubt have some better photos than mine. Note to self, buy some smaller T Shirts :D
