This years Epic Summer trip

Bloody hot today. Not doing much. Still got a Glasto hangover. :D Just inventing ways to stay cool so any tips appreciated.

Jumping in the lake is a good one of course.

I used to like to make "tree showers" on Aires etc where there was free water. I set up one on a German Stellplatz once and everyone started using it. You basically get a hose, lob one end of it up a tree, turn it on, stand under the tree. Its like standing in cold rain. :D

LOL! Yeah I need to dig out some better fitting shorts and T shirts, they are a bit tent like. :D with all the activities (which are endless) I should be like a racing snake at the end of this trip. Then again, the food is fabulous of course. :D
How good is your French Barry?

Liz did 4 years of French at Grammar school, but she's worse than I, she knows a lot of words IE the meanings, but no conversational useful stuff, I can just about get by, but we only ate out once as the menu is gibberish to us both, a shame really as we both like to eat out, but that one attempt put us right off, the waiter was nice enough, and spoke a bit of English.

You do know you can point your phone at the menu and translate it with google translate? :D

Im pretty good with menus.

Now 36c here in the village 🥵 I’ve setup the outside shower for a cooling hose down when the heat gets unbearable. Meteo excessive hot weather warnings for most of this week 😝

Bloody hell! That is hot. Where are you? Its about 31 or 32 here I think. However its just started raining. :D
About 40 kms due east from Poitiers, less than 30 min drive to Chauvigny

From reports, Europe is under a heat bomb which moved up from Africa, to last till at least Thursday. 🥵

The great thing about being here of course is firstly there is a lovely cool lake to jump in (been in and out all day) and secondly right behind us there is literally a mountain air conditioning unit. Ten minutes your up to nearly 4000ft and its incredible the difference in temperature. I couldnt go up there today though as I shitfaced myself at the Glastonbury night. :D I think Im doing the alpine coaster tomorrow. :D

A rough rule of thumb is to eat at lunch time (strictly 12 till 2) and go for the 'plat de jour'. It is sometimes the case that the same items will be on the evening menu but more expensive.
Usually you can choose between 2 or 3 courses for a set price.
The plat de jour will be freshly cooked that day and good quality. Often offered to the locals who know a good thing.
If I am in doubt, I simply photograph the listing with Google lens and it will give you an instant translation.

No chance of us ever doing that. By the time we think about lunch its 4pm :D

How paradise can suddenly change in just 24 hours. :D

Im pretty much retired now but still keep a couple of key clients. The big charity I work for back home has been hit my a horrendous virus so I spent all night last night on and off trying to sort that, still on with it now. Roadworks right outside the campsite started at 6:30am this morning which wouldn't have been so bad if it had not included a humongous air horn going off ever ten seconds for hours. Michelle wanted to do a load of washing so I spent ages emptying the grey into a bucket and fetching 25 litre water carriers to top up. Then an hour ago we went shopping only to find the Rozzers saying we can't go back to the van because of the roadworks. WTF! :D So I had a word with the Rozzers and explained we were at the site at the end of the lake and he told us to use the cycle path. :D All well and good until we met a party of about 50 schoolkids and their teachers coming the other way. 😵‍💫

All this time the clouds were darkening and we just got back in time to put everything away before the heavens opened. Michelle has put my lilo over her washing but Im guessing its goosed. We are now in the middle of a biblical downpour and thunder and Im parked forwards against a hedge on Grass. :(

We are supposed to be leaving tomorrow!
