thinking of air fryer

The other thing to take into consideration is the cabling from the battery to the inverter.

Using a 500w device will draw about (500w *110% / 12v) = 45 amp; a 1,000 w device = 90 amp.
Going a bit off-topic on Air Fryers but as being used off-grid is still relevant, I guess you should assume (could be dangerous!) that the cabling is right for the inverter.
If you got with Victrons recommendations for their inverters as a reasonable guideline, a 12/1200VA (so 1000W) inverter can have 25mm2 supply cable if the cable length is no more than 1.5M, but more than that (and only upto 3M), you should use 35mm2 cable. And note this is proper pure Copper Cable, not copper-coated aluminium cable that is often supplied with Inverters. The one I fitted last week the cable length was only 1.2M long but I still went for 35mm2 copper welding cable to minimise Voltage drop.

We have a Tower air fryer in MH and a Romoska. Took the oven out and fitted a drawer instead.
one of the major drawbacks with our oven is that it is the top item of a tower consisting of fridge freezer & oven but placed directly on top of the wheel arch the bottom of the fridge is almost 12” off the ground bottom of the oven about 5’3’“ exactly the same height as jan so oven grill etc all above her head even at six foot i find it awkward getting stuff in & out the oven

The ovens make good bread bins 😳 We had the same in our Laika. The oven was above the fridge / freezer. Far to high. Little chimney at the back to direct the heat through a terminal on the roof. When we traded it the hinges were getting very stiff. New system with Romoska and Air Fryer works very well. Just a bit of planning. The Romoska will work with the inverter.

what’s the actual difference between a halogen oven & an air fryer looked at some today & the halogen one looks just like the one i’ve got at the back of a cupboard somewhere

The Actual Difference?

Well .... personally speaking...
  • My first Air-Fryer I liked, but has now been replaced by a bigger Air-Fryer which sits on the Kitchen Counter and gets used at least 3 times a week
  • My Halogen Oven, like yours, sits unloved and unused in the back of a cupboard somewhere.

I found the Halogen oven way to aggressive with the heat and it tended to be more like a very powerful grill. The Air Fryers have a very hot element on the top, but I think what makes them much better (IMO) is they have a very powerful fan (much stronger than the fan in a regular fan oven) that distributes the heat far more evenly.

I am sure many people use Halogen ovens very successfully and love them but every time I have tried it has been pretty unsuccessful. The Air Fryers are much easier to use and always seem to get the job done (or at least the food is edible at the end, which is a result in itself sometimes :) )

I have a Michaelangelo Air Fryer in my Galley (Narrowboat) I can honestly say I would nor be without it.

I am about to make some changes to the galley and in doing so the Air Fryer will be taking pride of place, alongside the electric hob and slow cooker. All these are powered from Solar (12 months) and there is also a range of 240v appliances, inc the dishwasher.

The Airfryer et al means the LPG stand alone cooker is coming out and getting sold.

I would, as others have, highly recommend you get one. Ninja or Michaelangelo.

👍

I doing chicken thighs coated in spices and parmesan for tea tonight in the Actifry...which we have with deli pickles! Blimming lovely it is too :)

Had one for about 18 months now and find it brilliant at what it does, think, small efficient fan oven.
So many to choose from, size and layout are important.

We walked into a B & M today to pick up some typhoo T bags & arm & hammer toothpaste we know they stock them & haven’t been able to find either up in Scotland, to my surprise one of the recommended air fryers a tefal actifry advance seen on Amazon at £179 was on the shelf at £129 seems a reasonable size & power so I’ll give it a go ???

ok had a try today with the new air fryer you may recall i had to buy a new inverter and of course i’ve been on the road for just over 3 weeks, the scottish weather has not been helping the solar panels so i thought it would be a serious test my lithium part of my hybrid system is sitting at 43% , cooked chicken kiev & hash browns set it up for 18 mins 2 of those to preheat , the readings fluctuated but never above 1700w and the remaining running time stayed about 45 minutes , the meal was fine and batteries appeared to recover very quickly ,

12AH of battery bank used to cook your meal. That is just around 150Wh which is very good going. You'll get that back fast in the summer with your solar.

I was sick of buying kitchen gadgets that end up in the back of a cupboard so I put off buying one however Morrisons had a sale on so I bought one reduced from £79.99 to £39.99 cheap enough to gift to someone if I don’t like it, I am now looking for a bigger and better one as I quite like it though still not mastered it completely someone needs to write a proper cookbook as my old Mrs Beatons never mentions them.

With a ridge monkey and camp/dutch oven.
Now we never use the oven. (Never used it much before)
We simple keep suitable food items in the, otherwise redundant, oven

I keep downloading air fryer cookbooks from Amazon for the kindle or Kindle app when I get a notification that they are free, there are lots of them there, our Ninja air fryer and Remoska gets used almost every day

I use this one and have used maybe half a dozen recipes from it. In fact we used one of the recipes for us tea last night.

It's only a fiver or so, so maybe worth a try for you?

We have just become air fryers, so far so good, my wife bought Daewo rotisserie one 12 litres great bells and whistles too, at a car boot sale we saw a tower single drawer one on sale, bought it for a fiver great works very well too, they are currently on sale in Lidles for £39 too, don't want one in the van though, never used the vans oven manage well with large fry pan lidded and tiny amount of oil does all we need works like a double skillet that,
