You must either keep a battery in link or disconnect the solar input to mppt unit unless you cover the panel, my unit has a fuse to disconnect....although would it matter still?

Correct Rob, just dont disconnect the battery without cutting the solar to regulator.I thought that as long as the battery is connected to the MPPT you can disconnect/connect the solar as you please?
