Suggestions welcome

Just a reminder that the two fantastic organisations below provide off road Trampers all over the North and the South west.

Only trouble is you are supposed to have one able bodied person with you officially.

I've used them loads. Michelle is like a bloody racing squirrel off up mountains and stuff but my knees are knackered so its a good opportunity to go with her and they can be great fun.

Winter Steam Gala on Great Central Railway. Park at Loughborough or if you cant go down a flight of stairs to the platform, go to Quorn.
The do meals on the train too, either posh in the dining cars or sandwiches on the DMU's.

Cracking username Bernard, very Bob Mortimer, I can't wait to see an appropriate avatar to go with it.

National Trust properties all seem to have mobility scooters available...book in advance. We used these a lot when taking mum out for a trip. Sutton Hoo, Sissinghurst, Calke Abbey, and one near Exmouth spring to mind.....Kew gardens too, afair.
We stopped in Portmadoc which is expensive ( but includes entry to village) but it is a lovely site right inside the village. Free access to the village even when closed to visitors mean you could maybe do short exploratory walks rather than try and do it all at once. Think they may have mobility options too, there was a "train" going round the site.
Yep Portmerion...stoopid woman...

I used to drink in The Great Central Hotel in Loughborough occasionally. It was probably a bit less salubrious back then in the 70's than it is now? (If it is still there).

It did have some interesting old railway memorabilia dotted around the walls back then.
