A wazzock on a motorbike doing wheelies was captured on my dashcam, which I reported to Manchester police. They responded by sending this info which ruled out submitting the video (the motorbike has no number plates) but might be of interest:

Operation Snap aims to encourage our community to provide evidence of poor driving and help us to reduce the risks the public face on our roads. Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate driving or riding offences on our roads that cause risk to others.

We are under strict time limits to process reports therefore any footage received 7 days since the incident date cannot be processed.

• Footage must be clipped to at least 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after the incident.

• Name the file with your INITIALS, OFFENDING REGISTRATION NUMBER, DATE OF OFFENCE this is the only naming format accepted, other files will remain unprocessed and are subject to deletion.

• Footage must be clipped to at least 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after the incident.

That seems stricter than what Northumbria Police ask for, although they do ask you to retain a copy of the full dashcam segment (for evidence in a Court of Law if needed). I have sent a couple in to NP which I have cut down and they have acted on the shortened version. Neither Clown contested the incident.

Avon + somerset ask for the 30 sec evidence too.
Though they don't give any information on the outcome other than one of four possibilities:
a/ They will been given a written warning
b/They have been given a fixed penalty notice
c/ They will be taken to court
d/ No further action will be taken

So hard to tell if it was worth the effort

In my experience it's a waste of time.

I've submitted footage twice to Thames Valley Police and they took so long to review it that they were unable to prosecute. They were out of time!

It's TVP who are a waste of time, some years back I tried to submit a report of an attempted 'crash for cash', their view was as no actual crash happened they where not interested, later that night the local news had a report about TVP cracking down on 'crash for cash'.

If someone grasses on you and sends a dash cam video of you to the rozzers say pulling a wheelie in the North Yorkshire dales or somewhere random like that do you get to see the video and does it go on youtube? Asking for a friend.
You are not allowed to put a dashcam clip online if the Police are considering a prosecution. Once they have done their bit, you can post it where you want.

I don't know about other Police areas but Northumbria Police have taken on extra Staff to view dashcam clips (my Son knows a few Traffic Officers in his capacity of running the North East Biker Down programme). Maybe I am too cynical but I think it is the only way they can catch anyone.

I think most towns have a gang of youths with hoods up and no helmets doing wheelies through the traffic on stolen motocross bikes and Surrons. Is that not normal now?🤦🏻‍♂️🤬
Is in Northampton, Old Bill seems to make no effort to deal with the issue.

Same here, seems it is "normal" now in many places, but it shouldn't be. :(

We've had several local incidents (since the lockdowns and beyond) involving illegally ridden or stolen bikes, with people killed or seriously injured.

Also other innocent folk caught up in any collisions have been seriously traumatised and unable to return to work (taxi driver in one particular incident).

There has always been bike activity like this around, but the extent of it now is because the chances of being caught and prosecuted are virtually zero as fewer police resources available these days. 🤷‍♀️

I have sent a number of submissions to Northants Police and I never expect to hear back from them. They do say they can't enter into correspondence on the outcome. However on one of them I did get an email telling me that the "perp had been sown up like a kipper" (paraphrased in case you didn't realise!)

What's the point if you don't get any feedback?

Daft!

What do you want? "Well done, you are a local hero" or "come to the police station and we'll sign you up as a part time detective."

People are constantly criticising the police for not doing their job and not being on the streets. Spending time answering emails about video submissions is not my idea of the best use of police time. I send and forget. As long as I have done my bit, I carry on with my life.

Bit of feedback is always good, even just to know you weren't wasting your time.
CyclingMikey nearly always seems to get feedback, we know because he lets viewers know. :ROFLMAO: Guess it could well be that most of the people he reports are in a vehicle with 4 or more wheels 🤨

As if it's actual coopers who would be answering to video submissions anyway.

But someone has to! And while they are doing that, they are not doing the job they are paid to do. Of course they could employ someone to do it, but that is quite a bit of extra expense just to say thanks for the video.

If I didn't have any feedback back I would not submit footage as it may have just been sent to their spam box.

I bet the rozzers get sick of wading through zillions of dash cam footage clips most of which are probably useless or just minor infringements or possible angry road rage responses.

Nobody likes a Grass. Just sayin. :ROFLMAO:
