Relative. My Uncle emigrated to RSA in the 60s with his RSA born wife, funny enough she left RSA as soon as Mandela became president, my cousins began leaving RSA in the 90s, but my Uncle and his youngest son stayed until the shooting incident, even then it took a lot of persuasion before his children convinced my uncle to leave RSA for Oz.
Hi Coilnm, wow what an adventure, and in a Ford - chuckle. You certainly enjoy writing up your exploits, impressed.
With what's happening in UK at present then SA ain't so bad, or is it?
So, would you do it today?
Did you have difficulties getting food, fuel, gas?
The travels are by a couple we met at Peterborough some years back, Whilst we've travelled around many of the same countries in a campervan, have never shipped our van beyond normal car ferries, further than that we hire a van.
If you want to see wildlife, it is best to go near the end of the dry season as the Bush is thinned out and dry. Kruger park accommodation is usually booked up well in advance but there are smaller private Game Parks. The Garden Route is good if you arrive in the Cape, you can go North at least as far as Durban, then through Zululand, Eastern Transvaal (now called Gauteng I believe) and into Kruger. There is so much to see so you should plan the trip to suit your interests. Avoid Jo'burg City, it's dangerous.
