Sites or wild spots by waters edge?

You need tidal rivers. You go up or down with the tide. Wait for it to turn and then head back. We took our yacht up the Thames. The engine would chug along nicely at 5 knots but with a 4 to 5 knot tide you just stood still. So you go up with the tide. Stop and wait for the next tide to take you the rest of the way.

Yes. Quite fancy that but I don't generally go out for more than an hour or two.

That's OK you just go out 1 hour before high tide and go with the flow. It won't be very fast. When it turns an hour later you come back. Same with low tide but you need to watch out for mud banks. There are tide times online. Places like Southwold can have a tidal flow of 6 knots. You will never paddle against it but you just use the water to your advantage. It's the same with the flow down the coast. Have fun and stay safe. Use to canoe myself many years ago. Quite good fun learning to roll a kayak. Even more fun in one where you kneel down and strap yourself in 🙄 Went down some of the Yorkshire rivers and Canoe Slalom at Bala as well as the canoe centre in Nottingham.

If would be good to give that a go. Should have done it in Devon last year really but it never worked out.

I've also done the one at Nottingham, water skied there too. Great fun.
