I'm thinking inland rather than by the sea. So lakes or reservoirs really. Not sure where our tour will take us this year but I'm hoping to do a bit more kayaking than last year. I'm talking UK really. Chances are we will head to either the South West or up to the Scottish Western isles. Looking for a few days enroute to stay either by a lake or reservoir where I can literally drop the kayak into the water from where the vans parked. I know a couple in the Lakes but I can drive there in 45 min from home so further afield really.

Can't walk far with the kayak now due to knee issues.

CAMC site at Altnaharra is on the side CNN of a lovely loch and you can stop at the Crask inn for lunch and a dram.

Loch Morlich, we stopped off for a night on the way to Orkney at the carpark next to the campsite. The highest beach in the UK.

I will make sure that no one steals your motorhome while you are in the kayak

Actually that's not as daft as it sounds as if we do head southwest to Devon and Cornwall it's on the way.

The two up in Scotland look great but I doubt we will head up that far this year.

There is a lovely farm camp site with views of the water.
£10 a night fresh water and black waste

We stay at a farm that overlooks Carsington Water, if you don't want to stay on the CL/CS pitch he has a field that is used for rallies and he will let's you stay on there

Uppertown Farm, it was £5 pn the last time we went but it is a few years ago, couldn't rate it high enough though, he sells eggs and meat from is farm which are top quality as well

Head for Mull? Maybe not as friendly as Arran but a man like yourself could find some nice places to stop within stumbling distance of the water.

Looks very commercialised now, but how about the campsite at Llyn Gwynant.
Nice lake, used to be a very quiet spot. Camped there since very early 80's when it had one portaloo and no rules. :)

Used to take canoes, scuba stuff and mountain bikes, they all went in the river and lake.

Some great ideas folks thanks. Keep them coming.

Lake side camping appeals as there are no tides to worry about. Done some great kayaking in Arran and even up on Flamborough and Bridlington but it's not always easy unless I'm close to the water.
