Car reversing out at services off A1 .
No dispute re fault .
Car owned by commercial vehicle hire company (NL) . Company volunteering to do repair . Not necessarily got a problem with that but suspect there are some legal issues to be clarified?
Interested in any input , informed or not

Make sure the ins co pay up for holiday time lost, best get a solicitor involved, everyone here claims for whiplash and gets paid a clean fortune as we have no limits in norn iron.

ProDave’s on the money here, contact your insurers with as much evidence as you can muster. Then just get on with life.
Of course, just need to decide if I'm happy to let the company do the repair.
Really wondering if people are aware of pitfalls with this kind of arrangement

As I said, just contact your insurers, allowing the company do it is just too problematic. Assume they bring the vehicle back with a bad job, or more damage etc, etc….

Where will you stand then?

If your insurers do the repairs you will have to pay the excess, if other party do them without involving your insurers you won't.... But if it goes wrong you'll have to take them to court.

I'm probably being incredibly naïve, but isn't that what insurance is for, to make sure your vehicle is repaired if damaged?

Everybody gets roasted by insurance companies, it goes with the territory, but surely you decide what kind of excess is acceptable/affordable for you when you first take out the insurance? 🤷‍♀️

Also, if the other party is "at fault" doesn't that usually mean their insurers foot the bill? That has always been the case for us based on the few vehicle prangs over the years in this household (none by me, I hasten to add!;) ).

Musselburgh Wagon at Inverness have a good rep. Personally I would push for K&I at Eskbank, I’ve seen many a MH in there for body repairs.

One time when my Mitsu took a hit, motor went to Arnold Clark at Seafield. While the repair was of good quality, my near full tank of fuel was less than half. I kicked up fook about this and the managers reply was motor taken for a test drive, I said where, to Aberdeen!

What boiled my pee was, I had to return courtesy car with a full tank. I couldn’t prove fuel tank content, or recorded miles when I handed in. I would suggest you take an image of both for peace of mind.

Funnily (or not) enough K&I did a repair on the drivers side recently , basically the same area .
That was caused by me so no complaints.
Less damage that time so I would guesstimate this repair will be £2k+

I don’t think it unreasonable for you to you select a company you have used before and happy with their quality of work. EG, K&I.
