Hello everyone,

We have an Electrolux RM2200 fridge in our van, we would like to replace the door seal as it is a bit old ('only' 29 years old) and not in the best condition.

I've searched the usual places (eBay, online motorhome shops) but I can't seem to find a spare. Any ideas? I also tried looking for spares of the more recent models which are the same size but to no avail.

Thanks in advance,
Phyllis (Craig and Catarina)

I was looking for a new seal for our old RM4230 last year - I came to the conclusion that the seal has never been available as a spare part. The only thing I could find on offer was a complete new door for over £200. Such are the joys of running an older van I suppose.
I was even more dismayed a month ago when I shattered the glass door of the grill on our cooker, when I then discovered that although most parts are available as spares, all glass parts have been discontinued. I haven't been able to find one yet from any breakers or "well known auction site" either.

There is a post on either here or motorhomer with a link to a company that will cut you the glass to fit at a reasonable price

Thanks for that Tezza - I might try my local glaziers a try before going further afield, I hadn't realised that they would do stuff like that. At least it's not too urgent, the grill can still be used of course - I'm just thankful it wasn't the oven door!

Look for Caravan Breakers near you

most glaziers will cut and drill glass , just give them a pattern and thickness. they will also get it tempered of course , to make toughened glass . although they can't make it look like the original you can get smoked glass , or bronzed . see what's on offer

Thank you so much for this Bartman, I am reaching the same conclusion, no spares available. Luckily we don't have glass anywhere on our oven/grill!

My Thetford Spinflo door shattered too. No replacement forthcoming but my local garage can get laser cut brushed stainless steel which I'm thinking I'll be able to fix to the inner frame with the hinge and glass which actually touches the oven door seal. So effectively my outer door will be SS rather than glass. Is this likely to be a solution? Obviously I won't be able to see into the oven but it's a bit of a bend down anyway!

Very useful - my local glass company in Halifax are making me a new outer oven door for under £20 and I've bought oven door glue online for £6. Much cheaper than £100 for a second hand door!
