Yesterday I fitted my second 250Ah battery to the truck, I had no one to help me so I had to lift it into place myself. Today I have a poorly back and I am quite stiff.

So today I am in the back of the van and drop something on the floor. To support myself whilst bending over I put my hand on the glass sink lid. As I went to bend over I got a sudden pain in my back and pushed down on the lid to steady myself. At this point my SpinFlo toughened glass sink lid exploded. The glass was everywhere it even reached the cab.

The replacement has been ordered.

I guess I am going to be finding bits of glass for the next year!

We were in Leucate Plage in the free aire (car park) in the Summer of 1993, after cooking dinner I closed the glass lid and went outside to eat and have a beer in the sunshine, unfortunately I had left a gas ring on and five minutes later it sounded like a bomb going off, people actually ran from other vans to help, there was glass everywhere and we were finding it until the day we sold the van

You're having a rough time at the moment. They say it comes in three's, but I'm in Portugal parked outside my 4th garage in 4 weeks with 4 different problems. Hopefully Things will improve for both of us.

Hi Phil

You bought yourself an expedition truck???

Richard

Oh, b*gger! Sounds like you're having a run of irritating 'blips' :(

I blame it on the clocks going back! :p ;)

Never mind the glass lid, that's replaceable, just hope your back's survived the slip!

Phil, why not consider replacing the glass lid with aluminium or stainless steel, avoids similar mishaps & would be a better extra work surface?
I believe the glass lids are prone to age fatigue and have a habit of exploding at one time or another.

My old man used to blame all mishaps on 'them bloody yanks sending rockets to the moon'.

Tes did bump another car whilst parking on Monday as well, so hopefully that is the three.

Perhaps you should also have ordered a STICK. As you get older you will realise that it's better to delegate than try to do it yourself ... :idea-007: .. You can then just stand and watch and come out with choice phrases like ' I knew that would happen '

:lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053::mad2: .. Hope your back gets better soon.

A tip from my live in Nurse .. You can take Ibuprofen every four hours and you can take Paracetamol as well. The best pain relief is Ibuprofen then TWO hours later Paracetamol. Don't be a man and say you can handle the pain. The damage is done so the best thing to do is keep mobile and take the tablets. As SWMBO Says .. Nurse Knows Best :idea-007:

..

Ouch!

Hope you feel better soon Phil.

Thanks for the warning, will cease leaning on glass hob lid when putting dog bowl down forthwith.

Some time ago our glass oven door broke our local glass supplier cut drilled and rounded the edges to make another all for half of the cost of a replacement door

With all this glass breaking I do question the merits of having so much glass in a moving vehicle.

I'm often leaving the glass hob top up, waiting for it to all cool and worry that I'll drive off with it open, ready to crash closed.

I guess glass is cheap to manufacture, though heavy, and you can see how dirty the hob is when closed :egg:

Thanks for the kind word re my back, but it is buggered and will never get better. What I need is to fix my stupidity and stop doing thing my back will not handle.

You would need to be conscious of your back every second of your life just to minimise recurring back pain. A little twist here, a little twist there then 'pop' your back has gone again. You can put your spine at one angle many times with no adverse results, repeat it another time, your back goes again.

My back goes into violent spasms periodically, most of the time I will beat myself up for not taking care, other times it will go for no apparent reason.

Just grit your teeth, weep with the absolute agony of it, then skip down the road when all is well.

May be an idea to give up juggling batteries though!

Whoa! Sorry to hear about your back Phil, hope you're not suffering too much now. It feels like the end of the world at the time, but it will ease, and you must always think twice now before exerting yourself too much, but I guess you already know that.
Did you want to borrow my Zimmer frame? It creates so much sympathy and you end up with loads of cups of tea!
Hope you're feeling less stupid now! BW Rog.
