Diesel prices around the world, 15-Feb-2016 | GlobalPetrolPrices.com
Guess Where The UK is on this graph
fuel.jpg

You Got It second from the bottom Norway is the only place in the world that diesel is more expensive

On the other hand petrol in the uk is cheaper than many European countries. One of the reasons is the UK charges the same duty and vat on both fuels whilst many countries charge less tax on diesel and up the tax on petrol to compensate on the basis petrol is for cars and thus a luxury and diesel is for trade thus deserves a lower tax. The UK could lower fuel taxes but of course which other tax do you want to go up to compensate.

How do you think that a small island off Europe can pretend that they are a world power and spend so much on public services???? without taking it from the ordinary people. So much money to spend from so few people.

I don't think using the daily mail as a factual resource is going to win many arguments.

Duty plus the VAT on fuel is 69.6ppl. Add in crude costs, transportation, garage costs plus profit and then add 20% VAT to those additional costs, fuel at present 98.9ppl which leaves about 28p for all those extra costs including VAT

The Wail has developed possibly deliberately a reputation for very selective reporting of the facts often in ways that can make black appear white. It is regrettable that these days the printed press has become a much less reliable source of fact than it once was sometimes to promote the political ideals of the owners and sometimes to try and sell their shoddy wares. Relying on their veracity tends to put ones argument on what we Scots call a 'shoogly peg'.

Don't forget we will all get the chance soon to vote if we remain in the EU. The EU is the cause of many of our high taxes. Try to remember that when you do vote.

UK will never leave the EU. Forget about it.

It's quite clear, to me, that YOU are one of those people who DON'T know the facts!

Being in the EU, means that we DON'T have the luxury of being able to vote out, the decisions/policy, made by the EU commission.

The EU is undemocratic, end of story.

And don't accuse me of throwing my toys out of the pram, when you know too well, that having paid all my EU taxes, I can't afford to run a pram, any longer, let alone afford toys to throw out.

If somebody is going to mess up my Country, I would rather be able to see who it is and make sure I never give them another chance. A bunch of bloated bureaucrats that I don't know are deciding the future of this Country (and 20 odd others) behind closed doors.

They proved just how invisible and useless they were when recession hit the EU and the rest of the World. They are spineless and incompetent, not the sort of fat cats I want representing me.

Hmmmm, who are the members of the european parlament? Nobody from the UK? You voted for them as well, remember?
