No measure with the bulb in. If you have 12V to the tip of the bulb but it is not lighting up, then there is high resistance somewhere on the ground lead.

Hi All,
Thanks again I have now sorted it and the light is working.
I traced the wired back and found a frayed double wire that could have been shorting or if not maybe the earth had broken.
So all is well. I know things are a pain but it is so useful when one is travelling to know one’s own vehicle to be able to fix things oneself rather than using garages all the time.
Thanks a lot.

Hi.
A bit premature!! Now van won’t turn over!!
What have I done?
Reverse light is fine.

I think I may have just flattened the battery whilst working on it!!
Fortunately I have a Battery Master so shouldn’t take too long to find out!!

Next time you change the reverse bulb it is worth thinking about getting one with a built in buzzer

It could just save a life.

Apparently some cause Canbus errors. Maybe at that price that would too. Good idea though.

I fitted two many years ago, I'dnot heard about the Canbus problem,

I always have an observer when reversing which is better that a camera or a buzzer anyway.

Hi
Reverse light is working but cab battery is now 10.4!!
What have I done?!!😫😫
I have undone all connections and taped them up but although the van control panel says 12.9 when I try to start the engine it drops to 10.4 and refuses to turn over.
Meter across the battery registers 10.9 at present. I am going to trickle charge it overnight and try in the morning.
I am not hopeful.
Just out of interest should red and black/red stripe wires be connected together?
The same with the equivalent white/blackwhite stripe wires?
Which terminal is positive on a lamp bulb. I thought it was always the central one?
Does the earth sometimes go to the central one?
I am really struggling with this now so any help would be amazing.
Thanks.
