Recommendations for Fiat Ducato (LWB) tyres

Other key difference with tyre change .... increased rolling diameter means lower engine revs at the same specific [GPS accurate] speed. I changed my VW T4 tyres for 'oversized' tyres for that reason as the vehicle was undergeared. Dropped a few hundred revs at cruising speed and was much more pleasant to travel in. (getting bigger tyres much easier than messing around with diffs :D )
No option as cannot fit bigger tyres, back axle change was a doddle.

Which countries are you going to in Europe?
Check their requirements for "Winter" tyres. On our way to Portugal we came across several roads in France where winter tyres or chains are required. Germany now has strict requirements for winter tyres, M and S marked ones are nolonger adequate.
France first to Bea's family home for a week or two, then Spain, possibly Portugal, as never been to Portugal, period.

2023 and this year we drove through areas where chains/socks are required, and if stopped y police and you don't have one or other, expect to be charged. I have socks, but will buy chains once in France later this year, so I have the option of both.

Terry,
I have a set of chains here which you are welcome to have for a nominal cost (just say how much you want to spend and they're yours ;) )

I bought a set of snowsocks for my Nissan Qashqai back in 2010 when the roads were very icy and there were a couple of roads in Berwick I just couldn't get up. Put the snowsocks on and was brilliant. Never used them since but still there just in case :)

Hi folks. It's time to replace the tyres (Van Smart A/S AL2 or 215/75 R16C) on my Fiat Ducato as the tread is wearing thin. A KwikFit guy told me they should never have been fitted in the first place, so I thought I'd ask you guys - the experts - for your recommendations. Thanks.
sorry i dont use. i use lodge tyres ok pj

Round ones are best, just fit normal van tyres & dont bother with expensive camper units.
Not sure about this as campers and motorhomes can spend a long time parked up and the sidewalls on specialist motorhome tyres are designed to accommodate this. If a van is used and moves regularly then maybe normal van tyres are OK but if they spend months on a drive, in storage or on a campsite in Spain for example without moving, then normal van tyres could suffer weakened sidewalls.

But I may be right or wrong.
