If I remember correctly, the guy said they weren't adequate for the weight of the vehicle - load rating? - but they've served me well for the past few years.

From the description in your OP I looked up those tyres, and the only info I found was this, https://eprel.ec.europa.eu/screen/product/tyres/440068 are these your tyres, and is your van a maxi chassis with max axle loading of 2.4t?
Hi folks. It's time to replace the tyres (Van Smart A/S AL2 or 215/75 R16C) on my Fiat Ducato as the tread is wearing thin. A KwikFit guy told me they should never have been fitted in the first place, so I thought I'd ask you guys - the experts - for your recommendations. Thanks.
After Kwik Fit damaged all four of my mint condition Fiat alloys by allowing the duck on the tyre machine to hit every “spoke” on EVERY wheel leading to them having to be refurbished, I wouldn’t listen to anything they had to say. That was under two years ago. I have a set of steel wheels I put on the van over winter so due to work commitments the alloys have only been on the van 4 months in 20. The wheels were ceramic coated and left in my workshop. Now they are to be refinished a second time as on the diamond cut area, they look like a 10 year old corroded alloy. Kwik Fit are having to pay a second time for the work to be done. I fitted Continental van tyres and the ride is more comfortable than the camper tyres with reinforced sidewalls. Van tyres are legal on campervans and motorhomes. Just make sure they have the correct load rating for your vehicle.
My van is 4.3 t on the table and im running 225/70/16 van tyres which iveco come with as standard, total load allowed is 6.3t on the log book loaded as it was an ex lib bus.
Me tae but i don`t notice the noise and i find them a great tyre for all conditions and they wear fantastic.and i have that 7mtr low profile.Plus snow rated.
Earlier in the year I had a pair of Kumoh PorTran KC53 fitted to the front of our PVC, they have very good reviews and about half the price of the Vanco Camper which they replaced, the improvement in ride and vibration and reduction in cab noise was remarkable.
